914World.com _ 914World Garage _ how to test a switch

Posted by: JFG Nov 7 2018, 01:44 PM

I have a rear window demist switch that i would like to test but do not know how to. The switch is for sale as is but i'd rather know it works (regardless of price difference) so that i know it will be of use to the buyer and not a lemon punt.

this is the switch with 3 pins, is there a way to test with a multi meter or simple (keep it idiot simple) wiring circuit that i can put together?

Put one lead on single top and one on the either bottom. IF you do not see short move it to the other spade. When you see short, put switch out and move lead to the other side. You should now see a short there now. You should have short on both bottom spades now. Push switch in and one will go away.

expect to have 2 positive leads going to it and one brown earth, the larger of the 2 positive wires will be power feed to switch ,the other will be a smaller to feed the "on light"...what I say and remember can be different things av-943.gif
