Do I need to drop the front suspension to replace the coupler?

If you mean the "puck" no you don't have to drop it all. You need to disconnect the ends from the rack, the 2 bolts holding it on and the upper knuckle that goes to the steering wheel.

DO pay attention to the upper yoke as to the side with the notch and have a 50 /50 chance of putting it back on backwards. If you do this you can pull the steering wheel to re align the wheel, but easier to get it right the 1st time.

This piece. Have new upper bearings (with new rubber), as well as the washers, if you need them too.

Don't forget to bend the locking tabs up. You do not want the bolts backing out.
