It is a good time.
Sticker is already on the truck, hope to see everyone. One downer this year, my mom booked a Italian Cruise and won't be at Hershey. She will be missed.

You all stop by and see me I got stuff...…..

I will be there, not going to sell parts this year so will park with the cars!
John
I'm planning to go too. Looking forward to hanging with some other teeners.
If any of you guys see one of these Italian side markers (I need the left side), please pick it up and I'll pay you a nice "finder's fee" along with the part cost and shipping.
Enjoy the swap meet everyone.
Except for Garold, the 914 parts at Hershey are usually pretty generic and ready for the trash pile. Have you tried Rich I know he has quite the nos stash. Wayne might have it in that stash of parts that he’s showing off on pelican. Maybe Steve Limbert @ air cooled racing.
Is there going to be a Friday drive this year?
Zach
I gave this thread some color.
Zach
I may have missed, but is there a ride organized for Friday and a Dinner again for Friday Evening? Are most people still staying at old Joint down the road or have they broken up to more decent joints?
John
Scott and I will be there. We get in Friday night so we could join in any fun on Friday and be ready for Saturday morning.
My buddy and I will be there in either a 914 and 911 (if I get my pedal cluster installed) or two 911s. We were thinking of going to see horse racing Friday night if nothing else is happening. A dinner gathering would be great
Bump.
Amy and I are planning on being there. Probably staying through Bluegreen and not the Knights Inn. If there is no drive planned we will come up Friday and stay through the AX Sunday.
Zach
I’m coming down too for cold Canada! Definitely not staying at the Knights Inn. But I’m in for the friday night dinner. Same place as last year?
I'll make reservations for dinner on Friday April 19th this week. Please chime in if you can make it so I can get them a head count. Let's meet there at 6PM.
Yes, same place as last year - it seems to work out well. It is BYOB.
Hoss's Steak & Sea House
9009 Bridge Rd
Hummelstown, PA 17036
I look forward to seeing everyone.
Count me in for 2 persons again this year!
Steph.
I’m in for 2 for dinner, see you guys soon.
I am going..first time in 20+ years
Amy and I are planning on being there for dinner.
Zach
I am in for 4
Is there anyone local that may be able to coordinate a drive for Friday? Maybe Gettysburg and Air cooled racing?
If this is your first time to Hershey, make sure to bring a good selection of clothing. It can be cold and rainy or warm and sunny or all of the following on the same day.
Reservations are made for 20. Please chime in if you plan on attending and haven't RSVP'd yet so I can update the reservation.
Reservations are under "914 World"
Steve Limbert from Aircooled Racing just RSVP'd yes.
We are 5 days out and all I see in the forecast is effin rain and more rain for both Friday and Saturday
I’m ignoring the forecast!!
The rainiest, coldest morning I've been to at hershey turned into a 80 degree sunny day by noon. I always just go and take lots of different clothing.
Just got back from Route 66 and will be ready for Hershey this weekend. See you Friday
Its April in South Central PA. The forecast is no more then apes throwing darts at a wall until maybe 12 hours out.
We literally just had a tornado WARNING (seek shelter now) last night that never even developed into a thunderstorm. The weather this time of year has mood swings my ex-wife would be proud of.
I'm probably in for a drive Friday in the 914, especially if the weather is good. Otherwise I'll be there for dinner in the WRX.
Zach
Started the loading process of the truck & trailer today. Looking forward to seeing the gang again rain or shine.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, looking for a decent set of license plate lenses for my 71. I hope to be in Hershey ahead of the weather around noon.
UPDATE ON THE WEATHER.
The weather report today says Rain Friday and early morning Saturday clearing to PARTLY CLOUDY AND SUNNY around 8 AM Saturday morning in Hershey for the Swap Meet.
FRIDAY DRIVE UPDATE!
Weather looks sketchy but we're going to try and get out for a little spin Friday afternoon before dinner. Troeg's brewery parking lot @11:30 meetup and grab lunch. Then we'll head out about 1ish. PM me for my cell if you want get in touch.
Matt and Scott from 914 rubber are coming along and we have seats for them covered.
See You in Hershey!!!!
2 of us heading out from Wisconsin early Friday morning. Should be in Hershey around 4-5. Hopefully we can all meet up and get to put some faces to names! Looking forward to it. Safe travels everyone!
I'm grappling with a comedy of errors.
And the weather.
My car is complete enough to go.
I removed my front spoiler to repair some minor driveway damage.
With the spoiler on an outside work table I began gathering tools.
Then the first weather event happened.
A breeze swept the piece across the driveway into far bigger repair job.
I continued, determined to get it to paintable condition.
The guy who agreed to complete the work and paint it.... promptly
broke his foot.
Maybe I get it back Friday, maybe not.
Next, the black cloud of unpredictable Hershey weather.
I'm not thrilled with saturating the fresh car.
I'll be there. Driving ? Either the GT project (fingers crossed ) or the Westy.
Dave..... you know I want to be there.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Do we have a car count? Just curious?
Scott and I are on the plane now. See you soon
I would love to join but I am getting a late start and not planning to take the teener (effin rain). Definitely see you all on Saturday.
FYI - we had over 60 inches of rain last yer and we are off to a great start this year. If this keeps up, I am moving to Arizona or Nevada.
My car is still acting up, but I think it will get me through tomorrow and Saturday. All signs are pointing to a failing alternator (perhaps a bad diode). I'll keep the battery charged and my AAA card in the wallet.
See you tomorrow at Troegs...11:30.
My sons car overheated, running around trying to get him a car to drive home from work and finish packing, smalll fuel leak on FI hose on my car, wife leaving in the AM for LA Cali for a week. All good and I’ll be on the road in the AM..... because I am “Living the Dream”
Rushing to get ready for Hershey.
A million things to do, load the trailer, move the truck to hook up to the trailer, "what was that bump?"
That was what happens when you get in a hurry...
Attached image(s)
Is there a specific place and time 914s are meeting on Saturday morning to drive in together. It looks like tomorrow will be an early morning to get to Hershey.
I'll be heading up early tomorrow. Leaving around 6AM and shooting up 15 from Frederick, MD.
Don't have my running 914 anymore, but my Porsche is 914 powered see you all up there.
If anyone needs a little space I have a extra Spaces D52 to D55 E6 to E9 look me up Paul (European Imports )
Weather is keeping my car home from the afternoon drive. No heat meant the windshield fogs BAD in a storm. But I did take my GF out this morning for a good 20 miles of PA back roads. When I got near the MD line, the sky was looking black to the south and west.
See you all at dinner in a bit. Sorry I’m missing the club drive right now.
Zach
So where's the gas can pics?
914dave's car is fantastic. My son Tanner and I spent some time with Dave at the Okteenerfest in Helen last year and it is just stunning. Dave was showing us some of the pics of all of the work he did. It has some very special features that I won't give away and at least one that I would never have thought of!!! And you don't even know its there.
Well we are here too. Over at the Residence Inn about 8 miles out. If the carbs aren,t full of water, and I can get it started in the morning, I am hoping to be there around 7:30. Heading to the Concours parking area. Dam it has been raining.
I put trashbags over the carbs for the night. Not much protection, I never have it out in the rain. But it is Hershey and we are here!
With the weather and other technicalities we missed dinner. Sorry for that.
John
This is the way we left for the 9 hour trip. The car covers lasted about 4 miles.
E Class. Mid engine Porsches. Boxters! Caymans, and 914's. Three 914's took first three spots. Dave won class. Congrats Dave!
John
Congrats Dave. The car is nice enough to win best of show.
Where's the pics?
Yes having trouble uploading photos from phone. All 914's were exceptional. All winners. Will try from laptop later. Amazing the change of heart towards 914's.
Was great to see everyone!!!
Had an awesome time. Always a pleasure getting together with this crew.
I somehow managed to get subnurned.
Had a great time seeing everyone.
Here’s a few snaps

Another trophy for the 10 yr overnight success!

How many 914's attended the show?
Yep great seeing everybody. 914 swept the category 1,2,3. Saigon thanks for coordinating the dinner. Note to self wear a helmet with full face shield to dinner next year
Plenty of cool cars at Hershey yesterday......Dave's 914/6 GT hotrod was pretty incredible. Who's car was the yellow '73 2.0L....a member here?
Attached thumbnail(s)
Didn't have a chance to get to talk to everyone at dinner. But had a great time. At the swap meet found some parts I needed, and maybe some I didn't need. Either way another great experience in Hershey! Thank you to all who helped getting us all together! Cheers!
This '73 2.0L was for sale.....I believe it was discussed in another thread here. It was pretty crusty.

Never understood why someone would enter a car show with a 2 year old or newer car. And of course, why would the PA PCA allow it?
I think the combination of weather and being Easter Weekend
kept attendance down overall..
Event seems to be getting smaller every year..
Funny how the 914 group seems to be the tightest ..
On another note, I forgot to get an order in at 914 Rubber on time to get it shipped to Hershey with their stuff.. When I called, they told me Scott would put my stuff in his carry on and bring it himself...
Now that is what I call Outstanding Customer Service.
And one more Reason I will buy from them even if the parts are available elsewhere.
Also interesting how many 914-6 parts were scattered among the sellers.
I was pretty surprised by that..
The internet has been killing swaps for a number of years. If I can get something online, why wait for a once a year swap. I think most vendors take home a large percentage of what they bring, not understanding the new swap dynamic. It has to be priced less than what it sells for day to day.
I had pre sold a trans and a bunch of engine parts so I went home with an empty car.
Thanks Bob & Nadine for providing shipping to the buyer.
Always a fun day and great to see everyone.
Great meeting members at the dinner, Many funny stories were swapped. didn't get to talk to all present. maybe next time. Thanks, Bob for setting it up.
Car ran fine, uneventful thankfully. managed 28 mpg on the trip, mostly turnpike. that seems pretty good. Somehow missed rain all the way home, in spite of the dark clouds. had the roof off for most of the trip back and have a good sunburn from the day. who would have thought that would happen.
Had the lone Porsche at the Knights Inn. I guess its over for there...…
12 cars were entered in the E class Mid-engine, 6 914s 5 Boxsters and a lone Cayman GTS. the 914s swept the class and the announcer said they had the 4 and 5th place votes also.
Dave took a well deserved 1st place trophy, wndsnd took 2nd, and yours truly grabbed the 3rd place cup. competition is getting tough.
Maybe now it will be the Boxster / Cayman guys wishing for their own class. I can hear it now, I would have won if those 914s wouldn't have shown up
674 miles round trip and home. Car did great enjoyed meeting everyone and now looking forward to Okteenerfest!!!

Yes, Garold I figured I’d include you as you are
a fixture in the 914 scene....
I should have gotten closer and called you to get you
looking at Me when I took the picture....
But I figured this would work.....
These are the only things I ended up
Buying besides the few things 914
Rubber brought for me..
Thanks to all who made this a great 914 World event. The weather Saturday was close to what they for-cased as you saw in the pictures and the ride for me back to Shrewsbury was thru the back roads in Amish Territory was beautiful as always.
The concourse was a big win for the 914's and what surprised me was the comment from the PCA Judge. He said in E Class the 914 did really well against the other cars in the class.......and we can stop complaining that 914's need their own separate Class. He told me the 914's are a hot item these days and gaining appreciation with in the Porsche Community Porsche.
Air Cooled Tech had their 914 Race car there and another 914 for for sail with a note that Hemmings valued it above $25K.
Hope we can do it again next year and see you all there.
Doug Novak, New Fredom Pa. (aka STRUCKN)
OH! I FORGOT TO MENTION CLASS E WAS THE LARGEST CLASS OF CARS BIGGEST NUMBER SO WE REALLY DID IT THIS YEAR.
Really great looking bunch of 914's on the show lot.
I was sorry to miss the dinner but this is the sad story. About 1 1/2 hours into the 8 hour drive down we made a pit stop. I realized I had left the keys to the 914 home. Nitwit. I was going to continue to trailer down and just forget about the ride and show, but Al's wife and mine offered to take the other car back to the house to get the keys. I made their trip 11 hours, and quite frankly they were very good about it.
I owe a couple of gals something special.
John
Yeah ya do, John...
Looks like all had a good time, and the weather wasn’t too bad. Like everything else, things change, maybe next year.
And not at the Knights Inn. Done there...
Lots of nice cars. But I really like the Olympic Blue
It was a different kind of Hershey for me this year.
My nearly complete GT was able but between the weather and a MIA front spoiler
I chose to go with my brother-in-law to shop and see friends.
My brother had a schedule conflict.
I also wanted to see Daves GT. It's beautiful.
Found some good parts. And regret not grabbing some too.
The pipe is a OEM NLA 914 6 only item.
2 very good tailight housings. Pair of NOS H4s
interesting reversable screwdriver, miniature of original 6 tool kit item...never
saw one like it before.
excellent pass. door handle.
Some new Weber parts in period packaging

I've been going to Hershey for years now. My observations:
- I've never seen so many 914 parts in the swap. My guess is many have been, or are being restored, resulting in a bounty of used parts for sale. I think I saw 30 pairs of tail lights!. ! (we) can finally say the 914 has come into its own.
- 356 parts and cars were few and far between. The price point has relegated them to static collections.
- The car "Show" had a light turnout. Weather was an issue but, the show always has been small compared to the number or attendees. I suspect the fact that it's Peoples Choice makes it more or less a popularity contest rather than an actual show. Nothing wrong with that, just saying there might be more participants if it was judged.
- The weather forecast was horrible. That being said the overall attendance considering was good. There were a couple of misting moments, but overall the rain held off. Actually, when the sun came out it was downright hot. The overcast made the swap pleasant.
- It was nice to see such a large turnout of 914's at the show. Congrats to all the winners.
- And yes, I did pick up some good items at bargain prices. We are lucky to have such an event like this, especially for us East Coasters.
Dave
I think between Easter weekend and the wrong weather report turnout was very light, especially in the morning. I think a bunch of locals rolled up around 11:00. Buying still went well for everyone. I know I spent thousands, probably scored about 100 wheels. But most sellers who were realistic were loading very little at the end of the day. There was a lot of air cooled stuff this year, which was good. But yes, light on 356 parts, except wheels.
A good Hershey.
Super to finally meet folks. It was great to see so many 914's - well represented for sure. Haven't been able to make the time to get mine to where I'd show it, but it was great to compare notes. Look forward to attending again in the future.
100%
It’s a big issue for many, and not difficult to plan.
Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal equinox.
So there.
That was a primary reason I wasn't there. Easter is sort of a "protected" weekend on my family's schedule. But yeah, I'm sure the organizers don't try to do it that way.
My cell phone takes horrible pictures, but here is the crew from dinner last Friday. Thanks to everyone who could join us.
If anyone has a clearer photo, please upload it.
If you spot any UFO's in the pic, fear not...it's just a flying beer bottle cap.
Can some fearless person attach names to faces in the picture ?
I've got; Garold Schaffer third down on right
Dave Toppin seventh on right
I'm hoping that we can have a better chance of knowing each other
rather than leaving it up to chance. On an annual basis.
