914World.com _ 914World Garage _ OT-Suggestions for Nor Cal Drive

Posted by: 914_teener Mar 6 2019, 09:23 AM

Just got back from a quick tag along trip to SF.

Did our fair share of fermented grape juice tasting and it struck me that I had never driven north of the upper Sonoma Valley.

With all the rain, the streams and valleys rival anything in Europe.

So what might be a great trip north? What roads, places to visit?

Any suggestions just to the Salinas area north to the Oregon border then back to Salinas.

Suggestions?

The Smith Canyon run, from Cresent City heading towards Grants Pass is a nice drive. Beware of sharp rocks around the next blind corner.

If you take the drive by Lake Berryessa, be sure to stop by the dam. The Glory Hole is running, it's worth a look.

Yep...that was on the list when we were in Napa.

We were there the week after the Russian River flooded and the Napa river. Wine tasting was unaffected.

It was so green it reminded me of Ireland.
