914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Spring G & R Swap Meet Sunday May 5 , 6AM - 12PM
Posted by: bdstone914 Apr 18 2019, 02:07 PM
The Spring G & R Swap meet will be in the same place:

Free to attend. New Sellers Free Return Sellers $20
Come as early as 6AM. There will be coffee and bagles and donuts in the morning. Donation requested.
As many of you know Ron Meier who hosted the G & R swap meets for many years passed away suddenly August 3, 2016. We are continuing the swap meets that he and Glenn Sager started many years ago.
It attracts a good groups of 914 parts sellers and buyers, and many nice 914's and some early 911's too.
Each year we attract new 914 owners who have not heard about the swap meet. If you are a member Facebook or other Porsche forums please post it. Please post the relevant data from this post.

No speed bumps. Couple of drain dips. Never had anyone have a clearance problem. Transition off of Indiana is the sharpest if there were any lower rider issues.

My car could use a dark grey/charcoal driver side floor mat :deal Doesn't need to be prefect, that wouldn't balance with the rest of the otherwise original interior.
Also might be interested in a FG LE air dam. Again, doesn't nee to be perfect, but hopefully structurally solid.

Everyone knows what cheapass mofo's 914 drivers are. That's a bad enough reputation but if you DON'T show up for the finest 914 swap meet in So. Cal. to buy some cheapass parts, you will be vilified and humiliated beyond comprehension. Bring some of that useless trash that has been laying around your garage for f*ucking ever and get it sold. Here's a useful tip. If you want to buy something from Bruce Stone, (and you should) offer half what he is asking. Especially if it's something less than $20. He loves that. Trust me. If you happen to NOT show up at this event and DO show up at the WCR, you will be pointed at and denigrated by myself and anyone else I can convince to do the same. Show some class. Come to the G&R. Come check out that beautiful black car (if it makes it) with the bolt on plastic GT flairs and let the owner know how envious you are of his fantastically put together car. Take a look (briefly) at Kent's car, "The Plumbers Nightmare" and try not to laugh too much. He's a very sensitive fellow. His inquiry about "speed bumps" at the G&R was too funny considering anything with the word speed in it is, well...

Have fun out there with @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=23000
@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=20991 What kind of way is that to spend a Sunday ?
Long story, but I'm way behind on reassembly and finally don't require parts. I'll be there in October as a Power Seller.

Nice reunion ... I believe I hadn't been to a G&R/BS swap meet since early 2015 - my how time flies ... It was nice to see a bunch of the OGs, as well as meeting some of the newer members.
A big thanks to Kent ( @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=9964 ) for holding on the the Miller mig welder for me
... and to Bruce ( @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=1319 ) for the real nice 'late' powder-coated front strut housings for my Bilsteins
Also, thanks to Dan ( @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=5515 ) for the neat assortment of little plated and powder-coated nick-knacks at bargain basement prices
In hindsight, I still managed to miss shaking hands with some of the other 'new guys' that were in attendance ... maybe next time - and maybe in a 914 (but don't hold your breath)

It was a good time seeing friends and cars. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend time with a some of friends. I was too busy answering questions about the V8 car. However, I did meet Carl La Fong. I'm not so sure about this "new guy" but I think should cut him some slack.

That "Carl LeFong" guy brought his car to sell, apparently. Something about having had enough of the type of people who drive 914 Porsches.
He said something like "Off we go into the wild blue yonder!!!"

Jim's car is especially shinny. Beauty.

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=20991 That is Garretts's Clown car. I thinks he already did put a VR6 in it. It is a " Tribute " to the real Clown Car.

Did not realize you are a fighter Ace.
Carl T. LaFong (callsign Prankster, Wingleader One[1]) is a Lt. Colonel (TCSN Retired). He was a pilot on the TCS Tiger's Claw. He fought in many of the same battles as Christopher Blair. He wrote a biography (The Memoirs of Lieutenant Colonel T. LaFong: The Kilrathi War's Greatest Ace (TCSN, Retired)) of his time on the Tiger's Claw and Concordia at the age of 73 many years after the war. He seems he has taken some of Blair's stories for his own(or he at least flew in Blair's shadow, and experienced similar situations).[2] Prankster was one of the war's top twenty aces (an honor he shared alongside Christopher Blair (Maverick), and Todd Marshall (Maniac) whom he often had the honor of flying with throughout the war.[3] They were among a disproportian number of aces who served in the Rapier II squadrons.
In his later years he worked as a consultant on the new Wing Commander holo-vid.[4], and wrote his own memoirs between 2689 and 2701.[5] It was one of three major three major memoirs including one written by another former crewmember Jason Armstrong, and later another published by his old nemesis Todd Marshall. It was believed there was an unlikelihood that Blair's own memoirs would ever be published.[6
Thanks Chi-Town for the engine life Torsion rod clip/holder. Cleaned it up, gave the screw and plastic new paint, and reinstalled without dropping the parts into the fan housing
