Besides a Gatorade bottle! That's what I currently have on my 914-6. I'd like to put a real catch can with the air filter - has anybody found a good option that works on our cars. Either with it in the engine bay or the rear trunk.

I have a Canton aluminum one in the rear trunk near the left shock tower. It prevents using the stock targa top holders or jack holder, however. My car has those removed.

The factory used the washer bottle from 356’s I believe. For the GT’s that is.
Along the lines of this...
Maybe as a starting point. They mounted them in the trunk.

This is my design, I'd like to sell them but I haven't had the time with all the 996 engines I've been building. Two more cars arrived this last week, a 997 C4S and a 996 targa.

Pete at RD said he will laser cut the parts for me, but I need to see if I can do something to refine the design and reduce the amount of welding needed.

Would’ve saved the planet from a quart of oil returning from WCR last year. My solution came from a critical search of eBay. Key word meaning to be sure it was what you want prior to ordering, not doing which the first time led to aforesaid oil leaking upon the planet. I know we are always counting on the Canadian s Mark, but maybe you will help us out here.

Really nice looking piece, and nicely thought out, too.

Very pretty in aluminum...does it need to be? Would some sort of high-grade plastic (or?) work in that location? Or does heat make that a nonstarter? Just thinking out loud.

Gatorade bottle ? no way!
Seltzer bottle is the only way to go.
Two zip ties, (or one for weight saving) leave 6 oil tank breather hose stock length.
No drilling. Not visible unless you look.
Cut five or six slits along the top surface of the bottle.
Stock hose clamp to secure hose to bottle neck.
Slip an old sock over bottle in lieu of a silly K&N filter.

That PMS one looks virtually identical to the Canton I have, from Pegasus I think.

I don't know how to make it out of plastic, likely would take a mould/die of some kind that would be a big tooling cost, plus it's more than just a can as it has a baffle inside and is correctly vented.

The one in the pic actually didn't work out, I ended up cutting and rewelding it 3-4 times before I got it right. It's fully functional with breather hoses to the air cleaner rainhats and the big hose to the engine case, with a petcock to drain the tank.

The problem is to find the time

I got one from Amazon and mounted it in the corner in front of the oil tank filler neck. It has a drain tube that runs out under the car. I’ll post a photo later.

I don't drink Gatoraide. Carerror only drinks Castrol HD 30.



Easy install and vents at the top. She has a set of bad rings and can fill the muffler with oil if left with the front end jacked for extened periods of time but after a year of auto crossing the bottle was only half full.

My comment about Gatoraid/seltzer bottles is a poke at elaborate installations.
A vented clear plastic bottle is a simple, easy, no cost, no drilling solution to capture
crankcase blowby/vapors when the stock 6 air filter is removed.
It's practically invisible and allows easy view of accumulation.
