914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Fore/aft movement limits on crankshaft?

Posted by: echocanyons Jun 25 2005, 01:07 PM

I need the factory specs on the fore/aft movement limits for the crankshaft.

What impacts this movement?

.07-.13mm (003-005"). Set with shims under the flywheel. The details of this are in most applicable manuals. The Cap'n

crankshaft end play in The Spec Book is 0,07-0,13mm with a 0,15mm wear limit.

the clearance impacts the #1 main bearing :-) ...

it's set with exactly 3 shims between the crankshaft and the flywheel.

that's from a combination of my memory and the Spec Book. it's in the Haynes, but mine is missing at the moment.

if someone posts more accurate or definitive data, i'll gladly delete this post ...

The cap'n right on a new install, I always aim for .003 and .006 is the wear limit.

If you push/pull and hear clunk-clunk it's rebuild time.
