914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Spare tire/wheel for rear trunk

Posted by: DickSteinkamp Jun 24 2019, 09:08 AM

I'd like to put a spare wheel/tire in the rear trunk of my V8 conversion. 5x130 conversion also. Stock body and suspension.

Will a spare for a 97-05 Boxster work...

Lug pattern and diameter look OK.

Better choices?

Spare tire remains the same size for all 15",16",17" so I would say yes it should fit. My 16" Boxster spare fits fine up front fully aired. No reason not to fit rear.

Fits good. I'll take a pic if I remember later.

I have a 7"x15 full size spare with a 225/50 tire on it and it just barely fits in the rear trunk. When you stow the top it sits on the tire but the trunk still closes.

I got a 6"x15 rim to replace it but haven't mounted a tire yet. Probably gonna go with a 195/60 tire on that which should give me plenty of clearance for the top.

That is a good light wheel.

Thanks for the quick responses!

(also, maybe the 1st time on the forum that everyone agrees beerchug.gif )

I have the same wheel as a spare. Fits great in the front or rear trunk.
