914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Norcal BBQ? Aug 3rd *New Date

Posted by: Andyrew Jun 27 2019, 11:48 AM

Same as last year, Weather is good, pool is warm, anyone interested in a BBQ?

A Saturday or Sunday would be the plan, If its a warm day the pool is always good and I have plenty of shade and breeze. If its too hot, the AC is great and I have plenty of indoor seating smile.gif

If its too cold as it gets later I have a nice fire pit we can always light up and make s'mores.

Andrew, even if the polar icecaps weren’t melting at an alarming rate, it’s the Central Valley so it will be a warm day and by warm, I mean hot as hell! blink.gif

Sierra Nevada Concours on the 14th. I’m out if it’s the 13th.

Posted by: Andyrew Jul 2 2019, 06:48 PM

Ok that's a good two no's.

Is August better for people? I was just concerned it would be to hot and people won't come. No one wants to drive in the 110+ heat for the silly people that have running 914s.

It looks like next Saturday might be 100, which is perfect pool weather and good bbq weather if I put misters on.

Posted by: Andyrew Jul 7 2019, 07:59 PM

Date change to August 3rd. Give me a little more time to generate interest and prepare.

My P Hauler is available that weekend so I can bring up your 914 if it's ready by then. beerchug.gif

I work for food chowtime.gif

Oscar

Posted by: Cairo94507 Jul 8 2019, 07:22 AM

Oscar I really really appreciate that. I am just not sure it will be ready. It will be close for sure. It all depends upon when it makes it to Aase and how long it takes to actually get the engine in and fired, etc. That is a seriously generous offer and I would definitely cover your fuel and food if that works out. Plus your trailer is a beauty and my car would be honored to ride on it. beerchug.gif

Well I'm headed out of town for a week leaving that Saturday but it would only add an hour to the drive and provide a "rest" break for the "long" drive. I have to think safe and stay rested and alert, right?

Ok, I'm only turning an hour and a half drive into a two and a half hour drive, so this may work out.

Oscar

Still on,

Weather is hot right now but supposed to cool off to 96 high, which means that it'll be really nice for swimming and likely pretty good with the breeze.

That being said the house will be at 76deg biggrin.gif

I updated the list in the first post for the people who have said they are coming/not coming.

Probably be about the same turnout as last year. I'm still trying to get some more locals and havent heard back from a few.

Posted by: jcd914 Jul 24 2019, 12:50 AM

So Mary is officially on board with the BBQ!

We will be on our way to Angles Camp with a little detour to Modesto.
I will be bringing some local Sacramento craft beer, I'm an IPA drinker but I will bring something else too.
I have not talked to Mary about what food item we might bring to share.
A healthy salad is probably a good bet.

Less than a week till the BBQ! Weather will be a high of 98. So its "Lets see what your daily driver looks like" weather biggrin.gif Unless you plan on coming early and leaving late. It'll cool off pretty good by about 7.
I'll be setting up misters in the backyard so it'll be plenty nice and the house has plenty of seating for those that dont like the heat. smile.gif

I'll be messaging everyone coming and sending them the address and a reminder.

I need to know what everyone is planning on bringing. I still need the below:

Deserts
Potato/Macaroni salad
Green salad/Healthy salad
Other veggie dish
Watermelon/Fruit salad

Anyone else that wants to come just say so!

Posted by: Cairo94507 Jul 29 2019, 06:25 AM

Damn, I may have a conflict. I will not know for sure until tomorrow hopefully. I may have to be out of the area Saturday, returning Sunday down in the L.A. area. Not related to my car, but if I end up down there, I will of course stop in to Jim's to see my car.

Posted by: ValcoOscar Jul 29 2019, 06:54 AM

Count on me and my wife. I will chime in on side dishes in the next day or so.
Hope to see familiar faces along with new ones. Looking forward to this.

Andy,

Chiming in a little late, but just wanted to make sure I could make it. How could I pass up an opportunity to be with other Teeners when you're only going to be an hour and a half away! Temperature is no problem!! I live in the valley too. Don't know about these lightweights complaining about the heat. Must be "coasties." Why our brothers in Phoenix have it 15 degrees hotter than it'll be in Riverbank today!!

I'll bring a fruit salad using some of the fresh peaches from our tree. Not certain my wife can make it, but I'll definitely be there!

Blessings,

Jerry

Here ya go 914SIXX. We had a great time at Andy's! Here's a photo of the gang. Alfred, Pete, Harry, Mark, Jerry, host Andy, Oscar, Jim and me, Curtis. Tons of food, some beer, lots of stories and a few dips in the pool to cool down!
Oscar and I (mostly Oscar) spent some time underneath Jerry's cream sickle looking for the cause of an intermittent engine miss. Oscar found a loose ground strap above the engine so we cleaned and tightened it up. Hope that helps the miss Jerry, let us know. if not, there's only 12 other things to check.... chair.gif
As usual, Andy's 2 year old daughter Alina stole the show, what a doll....
Thanks Andy and Jerica, great time for all! beerchug.gif

Oscar, did you ever hear from Jerry if the hesitation gremlin went away or not ??

Good news is that he and Cathy arrived home safely.
Bad news, grimlin decided to stay. I wish he was closer so I could help more.
Jerry will keep me updated.

It was nice hanging with you again Curtis. My wife refers to you as the train man.LOL

See you next time.

Oscar

Well, you should hear what my wife refers to me as... chair.gif

Oscar,

I'm thinking the trigger-points connector may be the problem. Today I used "electrical connector cleaner" on the male and female receptacles as well as bending the female connectors a bit so the fit is tighter. The intermittent miss has been starting after about 45 minutes on the road. Tomorrow I'm driving the Creamsicle to a dentist appointment about an hour away and will see if my fix worked. Cathy must be confident as she's willing to go with me.

Will let you and Curtis know, either way, if it solved the problem.

Blessings,
Jerry
