about to start patching the little places that need it... where can I get a GOOD weldable primer and which one should I get?
i bought mine at the paint store, 3m weld thru primer, about $15. at the time.
Pretty common... it's called "Zinc" weldable primer. Many brands.
ok, so would some basic place like Lowes or Home depot have it?
Try a local auto paint supply store, you can get it in spray cans.
You will have to look very hard at Lowes or the Depot to find it - It will not say weld through primer - you would have to read the labels to note a high ZINC content....
YMMV

Is that what weld-through primers are??? Isn't breathing vaporized zinc a really bad thing to do????
Eastwood sells one called Bloxide. It is all that I ever use, a little pricey at $25.00 a quart but well wurth it. VERY high aluminum content so it must be shaken well each use, even after a few minutes of sitting. Great stuff though.EDIT: Spies Heckers priomat primer(red/brown) is actually a weldable primer so if you have the car stripped coat the whole thing with that first. That is all, carry on, nothing more to see here folks......
