914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Front Brake Assembly

I can't remember the assembly when I took it apart and I can't find any clear internet depictions. Are these photos correct or do I have things backwards or upside down? There are wavy washers behind the 12 mm bolts (don't know if they're suppose to be there).

This diagram from the factory service manual might help. No washers and, of course, bend the tabs on the plate up to lock the bolts. Lookin' good! beerchug.gif

You have the wrong 12mm (8.8) grade bolts that attach the calipers. Should be 10.8 or higher. I have them if you cant find them locally.
Looks like early two bleeder calipers. You can not install them upside down. I do not see the bleeders. Not yet installed?
The wave washers are fine. I never use those bend tabs. Porsche used wave washers on most other cars.

Thanks for this @bdstone I hadn't noticed the factory spec 8.8 grade on the rears and 10.9 on the front. Hope to be bolting mine up this weekend so just in time. beerchug.gif

Yes, I just loosely put everything together as a mock up; reason for the missing bleeders.

- So either lock tabs or wavy washers, but not both.

- 8.8 for the rear calipers and 10.9 bolts for the front calipers.

Do I have the dust shield install backwards? From the illustration it seems backwards, but fits better the way I have it installed in my original post.

I have mine on like yours but was also wondering if that is right. It seemed to give the best fit and the shields in the service manual are a different style. Must be the early style? popcorn[1].gif

Does anyone know a source for the Front Caliper Piston Retaining Clip?

I can only find it in a rebuild kit and I just had my calipers rebuilt by PMB.
