914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Local color striped wire source in Socal?

Posted by: narino Aug 4 2019, 05:39 PM

Anyone have a local place to get various colored wire? I'm in LA but willing to drive an hour or so. Currently needing 8ft of 12ga black w red stripe wire & same but in brown.

Tagging locals, hope they don't mind.

Don’t forget hot rod or 4WD shops

Not SoCal but they are really good at what they do.

Good idea on the 4WD shops, and thanks for the link!

Another good one. Straight Tracer wire isn't found at Home Depot or Lowes.

12 ga is pretty heavy. I have 14 black with red tracer, and brown wire too, no tracer. I'm not in SoCal but it mails pretty easy. PM me if you want some.

Hey Jorge

I checked and I don't have any of these wires at home.

Sorry.

best thing to do is to buy a hunk of a used 914 wiring loom. Commonly available, then you will have plenty of wire to repair anything you want

Well, I found an old remnant wiring harness.
You are welcome to come and take what you need.

Let me know,

Oscar

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=7090 just saw ynzyesterdaysparts.com is a little more than hour away from me, thank you! I'm headed there today.

Yep! Fuel pump relocation time.

Thank you all, I'm saving these links for future use. Previously I'd used https://4rcustomswire.com but shipping took a week, and I wanted to wrap up the project in the next few days.

A couple notes for others wanting to do a fuel relocate the "factory way."

- 12ga is what the factory used when they moved the pump up front in late model cars. Seemed like overkill to me too but who am I to argue with Porsche?

- Only 75-76 MY harnesses are going to have that wire and the power wire runs from the relay board all the way up to the fuel tank compartment. Finding salvage wire might be a challenge.

- No need to run the brown ground wire all the way to the engine bay. It can be run from the new pump location to any convenient ground to chassis up front.

Thanks Brent, makes sense.

Do you happen to know where to get the "socket terminals" in the 12 and 14 pin connectors? *edit* Nevermind YNZs had them in stock, This place is great!
