I am picking up my first 914 this morning. A ‘75 1.8.
I am driving it home from Colorado Springs to California over the next couple of days.
A little over 1200 miles. Should be a fun trip.
Let the adventures begin.
That's a good model. L Jet seems to be more reliable.
Congratulations. That is a nice drive. I did the exact same trip in '09 Boxster S 2 years ago.
Welcome to the club! You will never find a better group of people in my opinion.
Sounds like a long first drive - you've checked the car out thoroughly I hope?
Please post pics, as this gang will ride your A$$ until you post some.
Welcome!
We love pictures, especially scenic travel pictures!
Do you have roadside assistance with you?
Congrats, have a safe drive
Need photos of journey.

Godspeed
Have a great drive home!
Awesome and congrats!
Where in CA are you located?
Welcome-first round is on me when you get back to SoCal for having the chops to drive it. Right on.
I did LA to Michigan a few years ago, no hiccups. Best of luck! Also an L-jet but it sure didn't care for the mountains a whole lot...

Hello FisterD.......went to Boulder to school growing up in LA....made the trip at least 10 times to be honest....slept in the car (1970 914/6) often and I am 6'4". Construction on I-70 and I-15 was constant back then.....now a luxury drive. Motels are fun take your time. And absolutely positively take the top off!! The entire trip and the entire time you own the car. That's just me though. Have fun and drive safe and watch the temp gauge.
See you in SoCal.

Did Colorado Springs to Salt Lake City today. No hiccups. About 600 miles. It got hot in Utah this afternoon. Car ran a little hot, but to be expected with the ambient temps. Never overheated.
Crossed 2 summits with no issues. One was 9400 ft elevation.
28mpg!
Tomorrow should be final leg into NorCal to bring her home.

How many people can say that within 24 hours of aquiring a 814, they get to do a speed tun on the BSF!?!?
Too much fun!

you were 10 miles from me , exit 99 I 80..
Great Trip.. btw a week ago the salt was not that great..
Make sure you wash the underside of the car extremely well, that salt gets in everything and corrodes like a mother!
You've got an eye with the camera. Beautiful pictures!
Made it home yesterday about 6 pm.
What an epic adventure! Got to know the car a lot better. It ran great the whole way.
I averaged 29 mpg, which I think is great for a 44 year old FI system.
Awesome Car,
Congrats on stepping out and driving your new 914 half way cross country!
Love your 914, speed run on the flats...... didn’t know you could do that...too cool
Won’t let me add pics....?
Now you need to make Fister 914 exhausts! Congrats.
Great car and congrats on the drive. Awesome pics. Welcome to addiction...
