I’ve been awol for quite awhile. But had to share this. This car was getting loaded by my office the other day. I almost crashed my truck while it caught my attention. I’ve heard about this car but had never seen it in person. I was floored.

Are there a couple replicas or recreations?

This one is the real deal. There's a great article about it in the latest Panorama, including some backroads driving impressions.

Wow! 70 million? That's what it sold for?

Nope ...
Do a Google search about the botched auction. Nobody could understand the auctioneer and it sounded like 70 million when in reality he was saying 17 million.
Original one, at least, has just slightly more historical significance than that...

That's the official story anyway. More likely that some shenanigans were going on and ended in a no-sale. Word on the street is that it's had a hard time finding buyers for 5m. they were really drumming up hype on the car pre-auction hoping to catch someone.
Either way, very interesting and neat car.

There's video of the auction, you can clearly hear that you can't clearly hear the auctioneer ...
