Great time at the UCR social at the Oakville Porsche Centre on Tuesday. Picked up some nice classic tires at Mantis while in town (thanks Wayne).
David C left his teener at home, but Walter was there with his six and my son Jack and I were in the white car. Lots of enthusiasm for 914s and some new contacts for SIG914. A great night for me as Walter threw me the keys to his 3.0 litre six. What a car! After over 30 years of 914 ownership, I finally got to drive a six! Thanks Walter! Here's the pair as the dew settled in. Thanks to our hosts, Oakville Porsche Centre and UCR PCA.

Join us for a 914 50th corral at the Restoration Design 10th Anniversary Open House on October 26th!!!!
A great way to end off a stellar year of 914 50th celebrations and the first year of SIG 914!
More details to follow.
Please chime in with a pic of your car to confirm your attendance!
I'll start. I'll be there with "the white car" still donning the Jacques Duval tribute vinyl. Thanks to Stephen S. for this shot he took on the streets of Mont-Tremblant.

Hi John.
Great to see you and Walter at the Porsche Centre event Tuesday. Sorry, guys, for being a bad 914 enthusiast and not driving it to Oakville, I hope you didn't spot me leaving in a 911!
Regrets for the Restoration event as I have a previous engagement.
But here's a shot of my car after just waxing it (if you look closely, you can tell I've perfected "wax on" only).
John, lmk if you ever want to drive my car - its engine displacement is more than half Walter's - haha.
Have fun, guys.
I should be able to make the Restoration Design event (need to look at new floor pans while I'm there) and scavenge around for an original radio (working or not). Need to confirm a few logistical items.
We are welcoming all to come check out the shop and the new building we have just completed. This will be our 10 year anniversary that we are celebrating!
Here is the 914/6 that we are currently assembling. As well as several other 914's that will be here, I hope to have on display an Ivory 1970 914/6. It is in need of a full restoration and will be for sale.
I hope to see many of you here.
Pete
Hey guys, thanks for posting!
Here's the latest from Peter deJonge of Restoration Design:
914s will be coralled in one area and I will personally give a tour to the 914 group.
We will have our 914/6 that is under restoration on display. I also hope to have another 6 here that we just purchased. It is a project car that will be for sale.
Spread the word! Let's see all those 914s one last time before they go into hibernation!
I’ll be attending, looking forward to seeing the group, and Restorations shop.
Not looking like I'll make it but you never know...
Hi Tony, I'd love to make the boardwalk show but can't swing it. What a great destination. I believe our UCR Zone 1 rep is making the journey. Looking forward to your pics as you represent the 914s!!!
Mark your calendars now and save the date for the first annual Boardwalk Reunion at Ocean City, New Jersey on Saturday, 19 October 2019. Jointly hosted by PCA Zone 1 & Zone 2, and supported by the 356 Registry, Boardwalk Reunion will bring hundreds of Porsches to ‘America’s Greatest Family Resort’ on the South Jersey shore. Boardwalk Reunion is more than just a laidback cars and coffee on the Boards- it’s a unique opportunity to drive up onto and display your Porsche on one of New Jersey’s most iconic Boardwalks against an ocean backdrop that is simply spectacular. You’ll be able to meet and socialize with Porsche owners from across the Mid-Atlantic region, and savor Ocean City at its most beautiful and peaceful time of the year. We’ll marshal at Ocean City’s Municipal Airport at 10 AM, depart an hour later under police escort, and then park and hang out on the mile long Boardwalk until 4:00 PM. There will be plenty of time to socialize, to shop and have lunch downtown or on the Boardwalk, enjoy free tech sessions at the Music Pier, walk the beach and take lots of great photos! Join us for a Beach Party on Saturday night at the Flanders Hotel, right off the Boardwalk- we’ll have great Boardwalk comfort food, cocktails and a DJ. Special room rates at the Flanders and nearby hotels. See our Facebook page for more details:

What a great document of a fantastic 914 day!
Looking forward to seeing you at the Restoration Design Open House October 26th!
If you want to drive to my house on the Friday, you are more than welcome to stay over here and we can cruise in together. I'm about an hour away from RD.
Will be at the RD open house as well. Looking forward to some more 914 love
Some of our Quebec teeners are looking at hosting Mike "Dr. Evil" in the Montreal area for a 901 trans rebuild clinic. PM 914canuck for more info if you'd like to join. Here's a brief from Mike:
I talked with Stephane last night and he let me know what questions people were asking. I can start off with that I have been rebuilding Porsche 901 and 915 transmissions for 15 or more years. I have been doing group clinics since about 2007 and have done dozens with up to 22 students. I have done two in Port Hope, Ontario at a friends house over the years and now we are looking at doing one in Cantley.
1- Can we do 915 as well? No. The 915 is a different animal and considerably more frustrating to rebuild. The 901 is a simple, straight forward transmission that can be done in a day. I will do 915, but I do not teach them as it can take a few days and I do not have spare parts (or many) so have to order everything.
2 - How long is the class? I set aside a whole weekend. Typically starting Sat morning around 9-10 and then going until we are all spent, which has been 2-3am. However, with a small group I have had an easy time getting everyone done by 10pm. The second day can be used as a safety, at that point.
3 - How much? If we can get a solid 5 people to pay, then $300/person. If you have a 18yo or younger co-builder, they are free as we want to get the young ones and family involved in this hobby and having younger folks around is a good time.
4 - Other expenses/what usually goes out? I have been adamantly pushing that everyone change their main bearings (two pinion and two input shaft bearings) when they open up the transmission unless they have a rare case of knowing that the transmission has low miles and was not abused. The bearing sets retail for $1200-1300. I sell them for $750. You will also need a seal kit. You can get this yourself, or I can supply them. It is not cheaper for me to supply them other than maybe saving on shipping as I get them for same retail price as the retailers sell them. Things that wear out on the transmissions, other than the aforementioned bearings, are typically 1 and 2nd teeth and bands. Everyone should plan to replace these. 1/R slider is another thing that is often bad. 2-3 slider often is also worn, see cost below. 3-5 gears are a crap shoot as to what is worn and we can postulate prior to my arrival what might be wrong in your transmission.
Costs of parts:
Bands - $45 ea used limited supply, New $90ea
Teeth - $75ea, used limited supply, new $130ea
1/R slider - Good used $150 limited supply, new $350 ( retail $450)
2-5 slider - Used limited supply $80, new $192
So, if you are counting this up at home you should have come up with the following as a ball park cost:
Tuition - $300
Bearings - $750
Seal kit - About $45
1/R slider - $150new/$350used
Synchro bands - $90/$180
Synchro teeth - $150/$260
2-5 slider - $80/$192
Total = $1415 used/$2077 new
I have about 12 cores to part out before this clinic and this will help with used parts. As you can see, they can save you a lot.
This format here allows us to actually do some work before the clinic and we can all share in diagnosis and treatment plan for your transmission. Once we decide on a date for the clinic, and I get tuition paid, we can do part of the clinic here in group with me guiding minimal disassembly of your transmission so we can better predict what is necessary for repair. We can see if you need a 1/R slider, or how many bands if you take good pics. Also, we can inspect your pinion as a group and everyone can learn from the diagnosis and inspection. This means you will show up to the workshop with gear stack removed and ready to go. Special tools are needed to disassemble the gear stack and I wont have you try that on your own.
Maybe!
I'm going to the RD Open House, but not driving this:
I'll be driving a Honda Element, and hope to come home with a load of replacement body panels.
Big event is almost here!!! Forecast looking good for Saturday!!
Let's see those 914s together one last time in 2019!
Please chime in here if you'd like to join the ramble to RD in Guelph. Garland, Slyder and I are looking to meet up for the drive in.
Patrick, are you able to join us?
Unfortunately I won't be there.... other issues to deal with this weekend. Hope everyone has a great time though! We were there a year or two ago without the 914.you should all enjoy it!
Great day at Restoration Design. Thanks to the deJonges for their hospitality with a special thanks to Peter for the personalized tour. Congratulations guys on 10 great years helping to save 914s - it's amazing what you've accomplished!!
Lots of great people to chat with.
Always a great time.
Motivation shot for Slyder-
Nice Machine John!

They have a amazing shop. Learned a little about how they do what they do, on a tour! Thank you!
Always loved this sign.
Thank you for posting the pics.
They make it look like it was a fabulous day.
Sorry to miss it.
Happy hibernatin'. (Mine's going away this evening.)
See you in 2020.
Hey Tony,
-Way to represent! Looks like a nice display of 914s.
Thanks David B for this shot.
What a heartbreaker.
When at Restoration Design, we ventured out into their bone yard, and what should I spy? The first 914 my wife Patty and I ever took for a road tour together - back around 1990 when it was a good looking 1972 Willow Green car with 2.0 Fuchs.
Very sorry to see it met such a sad ending.
On the happier side, this one did make it down to Florida and drove on Daytona Beach, so it did have some fun
News from PCAUCR Annual Banquet / Invitation to Mosport Driver Education
Thanks to all involved in the 2019 PCAUCR Annual Banquet. The Islington Golf Club provided a beautiful location and the steak was very good. Guest speaker Autostrada publisher/photographer Lucas Scarfone gave a touching talk about giving back by fulfilling automotive fantasies for critically ill/special needs kids.
I was surprised with being a co-recipient of "Enthusiast of the Year" which, as a newbie, I received humbly as the other recipient has given tirelessly to the club for many years.
Good fortune smiled on me as I held the winning ticket for a coveted door prize - a PCA UCR Driver Education weekend at Mosport for 2020! To be eligible, I first have to have my car pass track inspection and complete the Introductory Driving School (IDS) course on the skidpad in April. If anyone is interested in joining me at the track please let me know. I know that some of you guys have experience and could bypass the IDS.
Nice to have something to look forward to for 2020.
Congrats, well deserved from what I see down here from a distance. And congratulations on the door prize as well. Wish I lived a little closer.
Looks like a good time Sure don't see these Revolutions very often..mine

Anyone interested in fractional ownership of the Duval car?? Selling the house and liquidating everything is just not going to produce the $ necessary to score this remarkable beauty. It sure would be nice to see the car land back in the hands of Jacques, Bob or George. I really hope these guys can be reunited with the car at Daytona in 2021 for the 50th anniversary of their win.
Thanks to Mark H for sharing the link regarding the upcoming auction of this important piece of Porsche history.

2020 is going to be another great year for the 914!!!
The 2019 CanAm 50th celebration was so fun we're doing it again. We are only in the planning stages but are working toward bringing you the 24 Minutes of Le Mans at Mosport on August 2, 2020 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the GT Class victory of the Sonauto 914-6 at the 1970 Le Mans.
Tentative plans:
Like the 2019 event, PCA Club Racing will be going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so there'll be lots of screaming Porsche car action to check out.
Participants travelling from afar are encouraged to roll in Saturday to hang out. There's lots to take in on the track and the PCA paddock. We can gauge interest for a fun run for supper.
We'll retire back to the track for a campfire Saturday night.
Sunday will be a corral/show (all cars in place by 10 a.m. please) with the "24 Minutes of Le Mans" parade laps around noon. If it's anything like last year, our 24 minutes will likely stretch out longer. This time, I'm thinking we'll head out on the road after the laps ending at Mark's for an afternoon BBQ/social.
If anyone has ideas to contribute please share.
For our US friends, just ask TonyA (Pennsylvania) or Garland (Michigan) about the 2019 event. Garland's videos show what an awesome venue Mosport is.
Please note that this is a PCA event. Camping at Mosport is great with good bathroom and shower facilities.
[attachmentid=723229]
I will certainly attend again next year. The drive on the track was a lot of fun, and the campfire the night before had some very interesting discussions. Need to make sure everybody gets this on their calendar.
Putting this on my calendar for sure. Going to do a little tweaking on the car this winter (I hope) if time permits!
I'm sure the Henry's can put together a fun run and Sunday BBQ again.
Ah yes!!! Cooler corn and Vanessa sausage on a bun with all the fixings.
I’ll will pencil in that date only if I can hang my hammock in the trees again. We will need more fire wood this time.
Signed. Survivor Man
Maybe I'll bring the car on a trailer and that way I can bring some firewood in the back of the Dodge.... and save the sticky tires I'm hoping to have on the car for
autocross this year! If I could just figure out a way to pull the car AND the tent trailer I'd be golden!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my 914 buddies!!!
2020 is going to be another great year for the teener nation!!!
Eagerly awaiting more news on the location of Luftgekuhlt 7 May 31st and hoping it might be commutable.
Werks Reunion at Amelia would be nice but stretching it. One of these days we'll convoy out to Monterey!!!
Please post here (or include a link to) any winter projects you are undertaking so we can keep the fire going and be prepared for a great 2020!!!
...and don't forget to keep checking back to Post #1 for updates on the proposed 24 Minutes of Le Mans August 1-2, 2020!!! Can't wait!!!
Cool picture. Happy New Year!

A friend sent me this, a previous 914 parade at Mosport circa 1973.
Hey David, thanks for posting the Mosport memory. Yup, that's the Labatt's 50 1973 GP of Canada.
Great YouTube video below of all the famous drivers being paraded in 914s.
I used the video to help recreate these Labatt 50 Grand Prix of Canada door cards for our pace car tribute at the CanAm in tribute to Eppie Wietze as the first pace car in F1.
Here's an excerpt from an email I sent to the SIG914 group last year prior to our event:
So, by now you know we are doing parade laps of CTMP as part of the 914 50th Celebration, and you probably also know we are parading behind a recreation of the 914 Pace Car from the 1973 Grand Prix of Canada, but did you also know that a fleet of 914s were used to parade the famed drivers around the track in the '73 Grand Prix?
Check out this YouTube video at the 6:34 mark. Great stuff!!!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=52sMdqUwZmg#
Please welcome Michael W. to our SIG914 group. Michael purchased a stalled restoration project from Mike's 914s - a '73 2.0. Mike reports the chassis is super solid. He is looking for someone reputable in Southern Ontario willing to take on a complete rebuild of his engine.
On a related note, congratulations to David Stewart for taking over Autosparks European car service in Guelph! We look forward to getting some 914s out to one of his upcoming driving tours.
Don't forget to chime in here with what you're up to with your 914 as we count down to spring!
Thanks to David T (Bumblebee owner) for sharing this link on the design history of the 914:

This is your opportunity to get on track at the world famous Mosport Grand Prix Circuit!
I will continue to edit/update the first post for people browsing and will continue to post updates here chronologically.
Be prepared to have your trigger finger ready to register early once registration opens online limited to 50 cars - details will follow but registration will likely open June 14th, 50 years after the 1970 Le Mans victory!!!
In other news, mark your calendar now for the Upper Canada Region PCA Annual Picnic, happening June 13th at Boyd Conservation Area, also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Le Mans victory! Plan to get your 70's groove on with vintage clothes and soak in some French atmosphere with great Porsches.
I might have two 914's going this year.
Looks like another summer of love for the 914
Anyone interested in going to the Hershey Swap, April 18
And/or
Luftgekuhlt 7 in Durham NC May 29-31? (Show is on the 31st).
John I'll be at Hershey because it's close. If you go and you are there Friday night there is usually a get together dinner. Hey on another note I was having a beer at my home Mountain of Camelback last weekend and struck up a conversation and the couple that I was talking to the husband/boyfriend holds the record in the EP class at Mosport his name is Rick Kavitski SCCA Small world!!
Hey Tony. Very small world indeed.
Regarding Hershey, we'll have to keep in touch through email.
I'd love to make it to the 914 gathering on Friday, but I typically am not rolling in until midnight. We'll see how that goes and plan to meet up there for sure!
Who else is going??
OMG, first the Duval car, now the Sonauto car!!! The most important 914-6 GT cars on the planet continue to change hands. Congratulations Marty & Matthew! Check this out:

Way too quiet out there.
Thankful to have my little escape pod to get me out and keep me sane.
This is the first year I've ever had the car out in March and it turns out to have been a good call.
Gord, I see you posted your 914-6 on FB about awaiting spring. I hope clear roads are coming your way soon!
Looking ahead tentatively, how many out there would consider forming a 914 corral at the 2020 VARAC Vintage Grand Prix at Mosport on Father's Day, Sunday June 21st? The cost of admission is reasonable, and camping is free. I'm looking at going Friday night through to the Field of Dreams car show and 3 lap parade of the Mosport Grand Prix circuit on Sunday. Event organizers are happy to give us our own space at the show. Here's the link: https://varac.ca/2020-varac-vintage-grand-prix/

I desperately want to go but currently have a track weekend booked. With things as they are whose to say how schedules could change, so if things do change and work out, I will certainly be going!
I'm waiting and watching as well.
Our first couple of competition Enduro's with the dirt bikes are cancelled. That takes us into June and from what I'm hearing we may be looking at July before things start to look semi normal again.
On a positive note I got the teener out today and looking forward to a little self isolation cruising.
Stay safe to all
Good to hear from both of you. Scary state of affairs. Enjoy your cruise Dave! Patrick, I get the sense that sooner or later I'll be seeing you on the news after you crack and are arrested for setting up your own cone course at Walmart. Hang in there! I do want to check out your car in action at a WOSCA event once they get rolling, so please send us an invite to spectate here!
Those of you that know Patrick, already know he runs a diesel. Follow his wild and wonderful tinkering here:

In case you didn't see his post, we have a new SIG914 member! Please say hello to Gary.
Gary's 911ST tribute is fantastic and I'm sure his 914 is a nice one!
Really looking forward to bringing us all good news of the 24 Minutes of Le Mans scheduled for August 2nd!
Fingers crossed on that! Also hoping the border will open up to allow all our US friends to come up to Mosport for parade laps to celebrate the 50th anniversary!
Looking forward to welcoming All PCA members. If you've never seen it, check out the link in the first post to see last year's gathering and parade laps.
T-shirts should be wicked cool if this is a go.
Thanks. Very pleased to join the group.
Looking forward to meeting up when we are allowed.
Stay safe
Gary
Welcome Gary from down under....Canada
Any word yet on whether or not we'll be able to go on Aug 2? Lots of stuff cancelled. Under the current rules we're going to autocross June 7, limited to 50 people and no spectators. Masks when out of the cars etc.
CANCELLED
Sorry to announce that the 24 Minutes of Le Mans event planned for Mosport August 2 and the PCA club race that weekend is cancelled.

Porsche Parade July 9th.
Hi everyone! Please lmk here or by personal email (better than PM for me) if you are interested in participating in this Classic Porsche Parade of 4 senior residences in the GTA region.
Attached is the concept in its present form. More details to follow as numbers become known.
Hi everyone!
On John's invitation, I'm introducing myself and my recently purchased 1972 914 to the group.
At some point in its life, the engine was swapped to a 2.0 (it looks like this might have been relatively recently), and the body repainted to a silver/metallic grey. The underside is surprisingly free of rust (though obviously not rust-free), but there are lot of body issues going on, with the repaint cracking, lifting and bubbling in multiple places. The previous owner had it for under a year, and decided to sell it after discovering how much a professional repaint would cost.
So far my plan is to address the immediate drivability issues (primarily the front/rear suspension and the shifter bushings) this summer, and then think about doing a full disassembly/restoration next year.
Would love to hear everyone's opinion about how to handle the fuel lines... they will need to be addressed in the not-so-distant future, and I gather there are arguments for and against replacing the plastic tubes (and hoses?) with stainless.
The car appears to have been local to the GTA at least since 1973, so if anyone recognizes it, I would love to hear anything about its history!
Gord
Please list the VIN and other data in your profile.

Hello would be great. Please count me in .THANKS

Their bumblebee was at the PCNT parade and the Oakville parade.
Sad that my '73 914 was the oldest car at the Oakville parade - was hoping to see some 356s there but it was stupid hot.
Thanks to Oakville Porsche Centre and PCL for the hospitality and sweet swag (2 Porsche models and a Porsche blanket).
Lucas Scarfone was on hand taking photos, so hopefully some of his great pics will surface here.
PARADE LAPS AT MOSPORT AUGUST 9TH!!!!!CANCELLED!!!
As you know, the PCAUCR CanAm weekend was cancelled along with our "24 Minutes of LeMans" parade Laps.
We now have a tentative invitation to join the Trillium BMW club Sunday August 9th for parade laps of classic BMWs and Porsches during the lunch hour @12pm-1pm on Sunday August 9. The group of classics would get ~10 laps but it may be less if there is a group photo opportunity at certain corners of the track. There would be a nominal fee, which would also include lunch for the driver but there will be additional lunch cost if there are passengers in the car. Note that our members will participate in this event as individuals and NOT as PCA or UCR members.
Organisers are needing to gauge interest before moving forward. Please reply to me by 8:00 p.m. Thursday night whether or not you will participate.
Some pics taken by Autostrada photographer Lucas Scarfone of David's Can Am and my Jacques Duval tribute driver at the Classic Porsche Parade of senior homes.
Sorry everyone. Just got word that the tentatively planned August 9th parade laps with the BMW club are not happening.
Very frustrating.
We'll do something yet.
FINALLY!!
Some fast approaching dates to look forward to...
Mark your calendars now and chime in here to let us know if you'll be attending. Maybe people want to meetup for driving in/home.

We'll try to slide you in to the Targa as there is bound to be a couple of no shows. Please contact me if you'd like to be on an unofficial waiting list and I'll see what I can do.

Doug Ford announced group gatherings of more than 10 inside and 25 outside are not allowed with huge fines in place. Ontario has an up tick in covid cases. I'm not going to be surprised if the open house gets cancelled this year. I imagine there will be an announcement one way or the other shortly.
Sometimes it sucks to be correct, PCA UCR club site now says the SIG Targa driving tour and the Restoration Design open house and also the Sat Oct.3 Show & Shine are all cancelled.

Hey guys,
We looked at alternatives through the night, but sadly it is a no go.
Chalk up another for Covid.
John
Was looking forward to this years open house as typically we are camping.
Next year!
Wanted to share with the group my pride in wearing the yellow shirt from the PCA Upper Canada Region 2019 Concours D’ Elegance at Teenerpaluza 2020.
The Road North
Thanks for sharing that John! Way to represent!
Hope to visit you in 2021.
Terry Fox 911
Us Canucks are celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend.
I'm feeling particularly thankful for all the healthy kids in my Grade 4 class. On Friday, the kids painted my 911 to raise awareness for their fundraising effort in support of the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope.
With the COVID situation, this year's fundraising effort is pretty abysmal. There is certainly no expectation or pressure on anyone to donate, but if this is a cause close to your heart and you'd like to make some kids smile here is the link to our fundraising page at the Terry Fox Foundation.
http://www.terryfox.ca/BranlynSchoolBrantford
Sir Andy, if this is inappropriate content feel free to strike it down. I think in times like these it is pretty cool to see kids taking action for good causes.
I wish I could share with you pictures of them painting the car and then parading the neighbourhood with banners. They would be sure to make you smile.
The kids were completely stoked to paint a Porsche and the car drew lots of attention and photo ops in front of the school.
Have a great holiday weekend!
Thanks!
John
Hey teener nation, can you spare a dollar for a good cause? They kids are trying to raise $500. So far, we have a few donations from Pelicans pushing us right near the first $100. No donation is too small - every bit helps a great cause and it will make some kids very happy!
http://www.terryfox.ca/BranlynSchoolBrantford
Thanks to Dave N. (slyder) for his generous donation! We are now over the $100 hump!
The kids will be checking the total daily in Math class, so thanks for your continued support! They are going to be thrilled with this result tomorrow!
If you can share our link it is http://www.terryfox.ca/BranlynSchoolBrantford
Thanks!!!!
Good Morning everyone!
Another sunny day is in store for us.
So glad to be part of the great P-car community.
Our fundraising total is now at $196 and the half-way mark is in sight.
Thanks to our many donors you can view at
http://www.terryfox.ca/BranlynSchoolBrantford
All donations welcome - no donation too small!
$204 left to go to push the total to $914.
Please donate today and share our link: http://www.terryfox.ca/BranlynSchoolBrantford
Thanks!
Thanks to the P-car community the kids were able to raise $911 for the Terry Fox School Run, to benefit cancer research.
Thanks everyone!
Here's a video of the Grade 4 heroes.

This could be the last time, I don't know...
Nice day for a fun run.
Thanks to Jarod for the invite to meet some of the London P-crowd. Lots of nice cars on hand and great people.
Jarod is the proud new owner of the yellow Magnus Walker 914 running a sweet FAT built 2.4
Someone please order more of this beautiful weather!
Great meeting everybody today,
John
May this festive season find you and your loved ones healthy and may you be blessed with joy.
Roads were clear and dry today, so a December run made for some smiles.
Happy Holidays to all my teener friends!!!
John
Hello team... new member and just found out that there could be future events here in Mont-Tremblant !
Here are some pictures of my 914s (both Yellow 1974, 2.0l)... one running and one in project mode !

Hi John @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=6599 , not sure about the Lüft shows and their schedules. Patrick Long, Jeff Zwart and Howie Idelson are the show's founders and they are the key people in arranging these shows. I (just like you) find out via media as far as dates & place . "Hopefully" they start right in with an East Coast/ USA show...as originally planned for North Carolina

Say hi to Tim and Damien.
Tim has this blue '73 and Damien is now the proud owner of this LE Bumblebee which his dad bought new.
The 914s continue to crawl out of the woodwork in Ontario.
In case you missed it,
Daily Driver video is Fantastic.
I’m sure you will relate. The best yet to really capture the 914 experience. I loved it! Good emotion humor and honesty.

Hi everyone,
I got a referral from John Tipper to join the group. I have a 1970 914. It was pretty mangled when I got it, and far from original, but I am slowly restoring it to a decent shape. Rebuilt the transmission, upgraded the 1.7L to 2056cc, and have been working on smaller projects like suspension, etc.
Look forward to meeting everyone as the weather warms up. Car is currently on the road and the only thing that got me through COVID lockdown. Will post some pictures once I figure out how to setup a link or attach an image. Its giving me grief.
Cheers,
Brad
Welcome Brad. That must be a US import at one point; I am not sure of any70 or 71 models imported by VW Canada. Lots from 72 on though. Dave
914 Anonymous
For everyone here subscribed to SIG914 Updates, please feel free to accept this invite to an all 914 WhatsApp group, 914 Anonymous: A support group for mid-engine madness.
Please pm or email me for the invite link.
914 Anonymous will probably be most appropriate for those of us living in Southern Ontario, but may also be germane to those in Quebec and the bordering States. All are welcome.
I hope you are enjoying your teeners and it will be great to have you come join the WhatsApp 914 Anonymous group. I'll continue to post any formal events here. 914World is the undisputed #1 914 website on the planet. The WhatsApp will be perfect for quick responses on tech issues, locating parts, local meetups and chat.
Just got home with a one owner car, (green) about 65000 miles if the odometer is right. Sticker on the plate says it was last licensed in 1981. Back of the car says it's a 1.7 but I haven't checked the block for codes yet. Side shift transmission. No rust in the hell hole! Anyone up on VIN numbers?
PS, no need to check VIN. It already tells you that it is a '73, which you already knew as it is the only year for 1.7 and sideshift.
I could be interested in the entire drivetrain if the engine turns.
What a shame. Willow green is one of my most absolute favourite colours. Ahhh, so white originally? Good windshield? Looking for an original. Surprising that there could be a ton of good parts on there.
Looks like a pretty light restoration for a Canadian car. Did I see this previously advertised at Beverly Hills Car Club?
Can you get a photo of the paint badge with the paint code and Karmann # ? Also get engine & trans #'s when possible. There should be a bunch of good parts on there.
Patrick, I'm interested in the transmission, I need a couple of cores.
Good score, lots of good parts to harvest.
Guys, I just want to say it's really good to see you using the forum in this fashion - that's why it's here. I hope we can continue to field these kind of questions and responses within our own part of 914World so we can support each other in our little neck of the woods.
I'd like to take time to introduce you to the origin of my affliction, my brother-in-law Mark. Mark bought his 1973 914 in 1984 and restored it in his carport. After I drove Mark's car I had to have my own and bought my first in '87. It's been an ongoing addiction ever since. Mark's car features a 2 L rebuilt by Uli Furtmair. It is finished in the original color Bahia red and sports 5 bolt Fuchs style wheels. Dave N ( Slyder) just went over the car for Mark after sitting for 6 years. Dave P rebuilt the rear calipers. The car is now back in service and Mark is a very happy man. I hope we see Mark and all of you together soon.
@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=6599
John I have those front end parts I still owe you kicking around. I know it may be a while but they're not going anywhere.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/810527469895465/
The guy I bought the last one from sent m this link. Looks like two basket cases not far from Pembroke. Overpriced but who knows? Might be negotiable. I don't have the time to deal with this but maybe someone else here does.
John Tipper, have a look at your PM's. Notifications aren't working.
Hi everyone,
New to the porsche 914 world, seriously trying to get in one. In the mean time I'll just live vicariously through ya'll

Hi, finally have mine back from being at Mike's 914s for quite sometime.
I'm looking for a 914 mechanic in the Kitchener-Waterloo area to help with a situation where the car experiences a total loss of power while driving in 'hot' weather. Ran fine in the spring, however now that the weather has heated up, she stalls out totally? After a short wait she will run again, but has stalled out before I make it back to my driveway. Can anyone here recommend a 914 mechanic in the Kitchener area?
Here is my '72 1.7. (My second 914, my first one came out of Crosby Volkswagen in March 1972, which was destroyed on the 401 after approx 22k miles of great driving. I had been trying to replace for quite some time when I found this one at Mike's in 2018, it was a very dark green at that point. Thanks for looking, and any help will be appreciated.
Gary V - gvlb914
Hi Gary,
You should have a look at the cylinder head temp sensor for one.
Also start reading this page and go through the diagnostic yourself.
https://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/
Call Randy at Whaletail, if he doesn't work on the 914/T4 he should know of a local shop that does.
https://whaletailcanada.com/contact.html
Thank you to all for their timely advise ... Mihai914, Dr914, John, and Mark.
(Space and time finally became available at my local mechanics shop, a former car racer, Shawn Arnott at Automotive Truck & Tire and special thanks are sent his way)
After we changed the cylinder head temperature sensor (and fuel filter) the car has been running fine without any sudden loss of power/stalling while cruising. Been doing just fairly short local runs lasting about an hour for the past week ... so far so good.
Looking forward to some fun summer drives.
Thanks again 914 world....
Gary V - New Hamburg, ON. gvlb914
Thanks to member George K for the winning entry in the PCAUCR logo contest. New logo based on George's ideas looks great - but of course it would've been a little better as a 914 profile If you're PCA you should've received the new logo in vinyl cling for your window and a new pin.

Pete and the gang always put on a great day. Come support the family that supports keeping our cars alive! Always a fascinating behind the scenes look at 3D scanning, laser cutting, the manufacture of dies and the stamping of parts in the huge presses. Check out the Speedster body-in-white, Mike's 356 and Speedster, Alex's 911, and Pete's flared 914.
Always lots of great P-cars to view.

Canada says farewell to Magnus.
Well, sort of.
The 914 faithful in the Great White North say goodbye to "Cranky".
Owner Jarod, recently sold this outlaw 914 with a Magnus Walker connection on BAT and it is heading stateside again.
Dave (Slyder) and I, had the pleasure of chasing this little beastie in a fun run last November (pic on first page) and we can tell you it really moves out.
Jarod recently gave me the pleasure of taking Cranky out for a spin. I must say, the vintage FAT 2.4 build is a potent recipe. Maybe a little too raw for some, but I happen to like Rice Krispies and enjoyed all the Snaps, Crackles and Pops from this little carbureted monster. The torque, said to be approaching 200 ft lbs, was delicious.
I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Cranky. You can see more about the car on Instagram here https://www.instagram.com/p/CSJ-K1Gg409/
Just two 914s the UCR Concours. The 914s seemed to generate a lot of interest. Darren's yellow 1974 1.8 is a highly original survivor that was a pleasure to see. Great chatting with so many 914 people including catching up with Walter and meeting Gord for the first time.
Everyone is invited to Porsche of London for a Cars and coffee at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. George K is planning on being there with this his 1974 1.8. You'll notice that he recently removed the sail panel vinyl. Should be a good turnout of the Porsche faithful.
Here's one for @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=104
Porsche parts sticker on the LE spoiler going to TonyA's Creamsicle.
Nice to see the spoiler going to a good guy with a good car.
Funny thing is, I promised it to him before getting my Bumblebee, which needs one, so I'm back in the market for one.
If anyone has one available, please PM me. Project spoiler needing repairs is fine.
Anyone interested in joining Tony and I for Perch in Port Dover Wednesday night lmk. We'll be hanging out at a cottage there. Maybe we can do 914s on the pier and have a little scoot. Room to crash at the cottage too if you don't mind leaving by 7:00 for breakfast at the Dover Dairy bar Thursday morning.
Overdue thanks to our hosts at Restoration Design for a great Open House event last Saturday. Mark Henry showed up and brought along both the AMC and AA heads he is now selling. Always good to reconnect with the 914 faithful. Thanks Pete Alex and Mike for another great day.
Hello:
There was a cruze this evening in Innerkip, ON with over a hundred
cars and trucks. Very good attendance. This is about 25km from our home
in New Hamburg.
Finally got my 914 running again, making it possible to attend with
three local Ford owners - family and friends!
A great way to spend a beautiful fall evening with fellow car guys/gals.
Only Porsche in attendance.

I just got a reply from BMW autocross rep Randy Sparre who advises helmet MUST BE LABELLED SNELL2015 or SNELL2020 certified. Contrary to event information posted, he says loaner helmets should be available. Those I've talked to here are not interested in going in wet conditions, so I guess we won't be meeting up there afterall. If you are going for sure, please let us know.
Cars and Coffee at Porsche of London tomorrow morning, Sunday October 17th - thanks Jarod!
Showroom is looking good.
Rain or shine event.
Just received this cool pic from Bob Bailey. He and his son just returned from the Going to the Sun rally in Montana, having put over 1000 miles on Bob's fine replica of the car he, Jacques Duval and George Nicholas piloted to class victory at Daytona in 1971. 50th Anniversary this year!!! Way to go Bob! A real 914 hero
Happy New Year everyone!!!
Just a reminder that registration for the 2022 PCA UCR Introductory Driver Safety and Driver Education track weekends opens at midnight tonight and will book up quickly. You must create an account at reg.pcaucr.org before being able to register.
One step closer to being ready for getting on track in 2022. Picked up a Snell helmet today from Ken Sherret. Cool guy. Suspect that Patrick might know him????
Apparently, his dad, Datsun Dave, was a bit of an off road legend, and knew Ernie of Mantis very well.

Just a reminder to please email me to get the link to our WhatsApp group.
Hoping to see 914 brethren at the PCA UCR Shift Into Spring Open House on Sunday. This is a free day with no registration required. Swap tables are still available and really cheap ($5 or $10). Come check out all the cars and meet a lot of great people. Details are here:
https://pcaucr.org/social/open-house/#
Great turnout at the open house last Sunday:).Always a treat to see Mike's gorgeous 356.
Next up, let's plan to form a 914 corral at the Porsche of London's cars and coffee May 15th, 1265 Wharncliffe Rd S. London
Plan to see a broad cross section of P-cars, with some exotics and American muscle thrown in for good measure.
Jarod will have his newly acquired ex Patrick Dempsey GT3RS on display.
For anyone interested in joining, I'll likely be taking off from the meet to make a run down to Mackie's for lunch on the beach at Port Stanley.
Great turnout today at the Porsche of London cars and coffee. Thanks Jarod!

I think I spy George's beautiful orange '74 in this shot with Stefan's six. George, sorry I missed you. Hope to see the new look of bare sails soon.
Never introduced myself here - I'm in Toronto; working very slowly on one day driving this thing, which I've had sitting around for close to 20 years.
Hey Chris, great to see you here. Loving the colour of your car - it looks real fun.
Hoping to have more news soon about some summertime meetups.
Is it an original Ravenna car? One of my top faves for sure.
Hello Southern Ontario boys!
We are having an open house/ car show here at RD. There will be food trucks, beer, coffee and snacks available for purchase. Several businesses on the road will be participating and therefore there will be extra parking.
The car show is open to all car makes.
All the details are on the flyer.

Hey David,
My daughter Erin will be taking the passenger seat in my car, but there might be seats available in other UCR SIG member vehicles.
Looking forward to seeing you at the CanAm in July
Hey everyone, great turnout today at the UCR annual picnic. The number five bomber was the only 914 in the field. Lots of love today for the 914. Good to catch up with Gord. Erin had a great day too and is super stoked about camping out at Mosport for the July 31st CanAm meetup.
A little better showing for 914 at the Porscheplatz at the Mosport IMSA race on Sunday. Organizers directed David and me to park our cars front and center. Wow, how times have changed. The 914 is certainly getting a new level of respect and interest.
Just got off the phone with David Tipton. It turns out there's a good reason why we haven't seen him and Carrie around. Turns out David and Carrie have relocated to Cape Breton. David sends his greetings to all the 914 gang, and says to look him up right by the causeway if you're down east.
We'll be thinking of David's 2019 appearance at 914 50th event at Mosport as we take to the Mosport GP circuit again for parade laps on July 31st during the PCA Zone 1 Club Race.
All PCA members are invited to join us for this free event.
Got waved through at the Porsche True North After Dark meet at Porsche Centre Oakville last night. Interesting to see the 914 mystify many of the attendees and elicit fond memories among the elders . The highlight for me was chatting with Harry Bytzek's son. Like Jacques Duval, Harry was a Canadian 914-6 GT privateer, who raced IMSA against the factory favoured Brumos team of Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood. Here's a pic of Harry and Brumos from the 1971 Bridgehampton race.
Maybe we can get a squadron of 914s to invade the next PTN meet?
Looking forward to seeing everybody this weekend!
PCA-UCR IS CALLING ALL 914s!!! – MEMBERSHIP NOT REQUIRED!
The annual PCA-Upper Canada Region Concours and Show & Shine event is tomorrow, Sunday, August 28 at Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls.
PCA membership is not required for participation, and the entry fee is just $25. Currently there is not a single 914 registered, which is a shame as there are very nice people's choice trophies prepared. So $25 may get you a nice grille badge, goodie bag and trophy if you can make it.
Spectators enter free of charge.
This promises to be another great event at a beautiful venue with nice amenities on site, a day to bring the whole family out to, and a chance to catch up with your Porsche buddies and check out an abundance of gorgeous machinery.
Everyone’s a winner, with trophies awarded in 14 classes in the peer-judging Show & Shine and nine classes in the judged Full-Concours for Classics, plus Goodie Bags from our generous sponsors for all participants, including a beautiful event memento grille badge. All Porsche models will be represented, from the 356 to the Taycan.
This is not just for garage queens; all Porsches are welcome, so don’t be shy. Please find more information here: https://pcaucr.org/concours/ or go straight to the registration page here: https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/12672

Looking for the owner (Dean?)of this gorgeous #11 red 914 to post in and say "hi". Props to you for joining us at the UCR Concours. We only wish you had registered and displayed your car to take home a People's Choice trophy.

Looking forward to familiar faces and meeting some new 914 buddies at this year's meet at Mosport. We have over 75 cars registered, including seven 914s, a 935 Kremer, and a few vintage Porsches, like a '63 356 and a '68 912.
Our own David Billo is sure to capture some great pics and we look forward to what he shares!
If you were unable to come this year plan now to attend next year when we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the LE cars with the biggest showing of LE cars ever in Canada.
More to come on that.
See you at the track!
-John

It's on!
Please see the update to the first page highlighting the LE 50th Anniversary, August 2-4 at Mosport!
Hoping to see all our PCAUCR SIG 914 members and looking forward to hosting the NEG 914 Mafia up in the great white north for any that can make it! This event is open to all PCA members.
This looks like a great event for the 914 Can Am cars and anything Can Am related...wish I could be there.
