I might ask the seller to shot more pictures and be specific about what and how to shoot the pictures. Extreme close ups are nice for detail shots where needed but generally they need to shoot high resolution shots from a little bit back, with good lighting. I would want the entire engine bay, under the battery box looking towards the firewall on both sides, the firewall, both trunks with them empty showing all 4 sides of the trunk and the floor pan, the door jambs all the way around, under the dash, the complete dash, interior, glass, floor in the interior with the mats lifted out, the complete underneath of the car and specifically along the rockers and any suspension mounts. Transaxle, bottom of the engine, heat exchangers, muffler, then finally, the exterior showing all panels and bumpers. All lights on, etc. Then ask for a video of it running and driving for a bit, city streets, freeway, etc.
Due diligence is required to avoid ending up with something you did not know about or want. Worth the time and effort. The hunt for a good car is half the fun.
Cheers,
Michael

so far so horrible, hope it is cheap, someone welded a flat piece of metal to make a "new" tray, and patched the inner fender well. plumbed in a 1.8 aux air valve for the long gone original, air cleaner is dead on the money but they horribly gooped up the throttle body base gasket instead of buying a new one overspray on the side of the headlight box pivot screws means that the whold car is sloppy and has had work on the front panel as all of the caulking is not correct taped off wires, american rubber hose for vacuum line rear insulator pad missing, all implies lack of care and butchered work.

The wires running to the positive battery cable clamp are normal. That is where the chassis wiring connects to the battery.
The injection has has some rough treatment. Lots of plugged hoses, and the factory aux air regulator has been replaced with an L-Jet aux air regulator. That's not a big deal, but it is not stock.
Don't write the car off until you have seen down in the hell hole.

Thks Michael, I have pics of the outside and interior. You are right about all the above and these would be the places I would inspect. It is a bit of a drive but from what I see on the (bad) pictures is not promising . As said the tricky areas I know where to find (thanks to this platform) but I was just wondering what you could tell about the engine at first sight... clamped tubes, strange wiring, air filterhousing, red bracket etc
Weather looks good this weekend so perhaps I should take the 911 and pay the seller a visit
Bye for now
