What is an identical car to that (also in blue)
with 60,000 original miles and with EVERYTHING
(even air conditioning) worth ?

With 2.0 liter, Fuchs, sway bars, center console,
no rust, leather dash, black interior.

Thank you.

I like the tan interior, outside same color as my car, wonder how much he paid for it with low mileage.

Our cars are worth so much more when you have documents on it. Be sure to start a build thread so people can see just what was done to get it back on the road.

In the old days photos and recites where the standard. Today it is a blog. Someone want to know that there were no funny repairs done to your car. As the guys say bondo can be made to look straight to the average person.

When I bought my latest car a 86.5 928, it had records all the way back to owner number 1 and owner 2 and 3 kept right up with it. Iris Blue over blue leather with a real 44,000 miles on it.

In the further people will want the best car with the best story. Never forget that a lot of 914s where built

Agreed - I have a LOT of info on my 74 due to a previous owner that documented many things here. It was definitely a factor in my purchase.

A TOTALLY original 914 with only 60,000 miles 2.0 with all of the poop, these days is a 30,000 dollar car, easily

Amazing car. I'd like to hear more about the back story. Subject says it was "saved." Hard to imagine a car in this kind of condition was in danger of being lost or ruined. What's the scoop?

Posted by: dr914@autoatlanta.com Oct 16 2019, 11:04 AM

The uncle died and left it to his nephew, who put it in his garage and let it languish. We all know what happens to a car when it sits. Now needs everything, fuel system, braking system tires servicing lubrication paint reconditioning interior cleaning etc. However we have started on it now and will once again get it driving and bring it back to its original preserved state, we also need to address some jack post rust (minor) due to CRAP packing under the rocker and humidity getting to it (another reason to ALWAYS store in a dehumidified garage! We will do some very very careful precise work on this car our goal being to preserve as much of the originality as possible. The nephew has a complete service history, dated on the car . Sitting since 1985

it is running! looking for a very very nice set of used 2.0 factory heat exchangers if any one has a set they want to sell

Posted by: dr914@autoatlanta.com Oct 18 2019, 09:37 AM

of course not everything survived, but the rust is concentrated here and not bad, we will take loving care to repair it as perfectly as we can and install new steel rocker panels that are painted with the original Wurth black trim paintAttached Image Attached ImageAttached Image

Wow... Even though it's very contained, that is some significant rust to go that far.
Good luck with the repair of this area George. Looks like it will be a very nice car when you have it done.
