Anybody that can post it...I can send it to you via email.
It's kinda neat....shows where I screw up & loose time.
I need an email addy.

Posted by: campbellcj Jul 1 2005, 09:22 PM

I can host it for a while. I think my email is in my profile, otherwise just PM me as I don't want to embed my email inside a post.

Are you coming down for the ORPCA AX?
The latest weather forguess looks gud.....75 & PC.

JP, i post them on my friends website. My videos are either me or Billy driving so Bill doesnt mind that I use his bandwidth.

Posted by: J P Stein Jul 2 2005, 08:44 AM

Tim:
It isn't so much where you post them as how do you compress them down to a reasonable size? 23MB for a 1:15 min. length seems too large......tho I haven't a clue as to what the right size should be. It's no problem for the cable guys, but....overnight for the dial-up folks.

I'll be doing some more vids this weekend. Somebody has to make up for Trekkor laugh.gif

mail box got dynomited last night. no bills today smilie_pokal.gif . 5am roll out sunday, no time for pancakes in centralia. hope the "tech guy" will cut me some slack if i'm a bit tardy. dave hunt is racing to finnish his wiring harness clean up. also pulling a "speedy delivery" for goose2(randy). fancy 911 front suspension. vented rotors, the usual suspects. see you tomorrow.

Posted by: trekkor Jul 2 2005, 10:39 AM

JP, use Windows Media Encoder.
I compressed a 38MB file down to 6MB.

You lose some quality in the picture but the sound is the same.

Mark has been posting mine for me when I bring the video files to him on a CD.

If you want really high quality tightly compressed videos you can use the Divx codec. I've seen 90 minute movies compressed into 600MBs of space that look like they are full DVD quality.

Posted by: campbellcj Jul 2 2005, 04:14 PM

OK I finally got it posted -- it is around 24mb (assuming it downloaded clean; I haven't watched it yet)

Keep in mind my server is on a single T1 so can get swamped easily...if it slows down then chill out and go have a beer or sumthin'

Posted by: J P Stein Jul 2 2005, 11:05 PM

We'll get some more tomorrow, but not on that lovely concrete. sad.gif

The one LARGE Osteer was a tricky spot...braking while turning is a bitch.
Long sweeper LH followed by an immediate semi-tight right.....humm, where do I brake? Almost got it right ....the 2nd half of the slapper was just a tad too soon.

Also need some foam over the mic part of the camera to cut down the wind noise.

Posted by: Joseph Mills Jul 2 2005, 11:50 PM

Nice clear video. If you zoom out wider does the windshield frame come into view?

Dang good drivin'! rolleyes.gif

You nailed those corners and maintained good speed thru them. That car has a LOT of stick! And judging from the engine sounds, your 2nd gear was really well suited for that course. You doing any left foot braking?

Good job. Makes me wanna' get my videos going! beer.gif

Nice driving.

Great video! Looks and sounds like a fast car. Felt like a miniture road course. Two words come to my mind in watching this paticular run, power modulation.

Posted by: Mr.C Jul 3 2005, 01:48 PM

If it was the sound alone it would be worth the wait. That is music to my ears!

Posted by: URY914 Jul 3 2005, 02:43 PM

Nice sound and nice driving,

My only comment is the course layout. When you layout an autox course with a cone every 10 feet on both sides, its really more like a tight road course. No slalom cones, no offsets, can't get lost, can't go off course. Part of what autox is about is being able to figure it out while you're driving at speed.

Maybe it's a west coast vs east coast thing but we don't run our autox's 'round here like that. confused24.gif It must take hours to pick up all those cones when your done.

Now don't get me wrong, I would love to drive a course like that. driving.gif

Currently in my locale, our AX courses are very much like miniature road courses. Instead of figuring out where the "course" is, driver's must figure out where the "line" is. It's not just point and shoot. Usually you're trying to resolve where to sacrifice some speed that will translate to a greater speed/time advantage moments later. Recently we've been doing two consecutive laps per timed run. However, we do always incorporate one or two slaloms. I love the slaloms in our cars.

They're pretty open and fast. I usually hit my rev-limiter in 3rd gear (it's a "flipped" 5th). In fact, I'm usually in 3rd most of the course except for a few tight turns. I like this style of AX. About the only downside is that it sometimes tends to favor HP advantaged cars.

It's all good. rolleyes.gif beer.gif

It's hard to really tell just by looking at this, but I think you

Looking good JP. What main shaft do you have in your trans? I just changed from an F to Ga and it really makes 2nd much more usable.

Posted by: trekkor Jul 3 2005, 06:49 PM

JP, I went to load your viddy and it was an estimated 3 hour download for me. ohmy.gif

Maybe overnight...

I wish I could high speed out here in the country.

Naw its just a SCCA verses PCA thing. SCCA guys are afraid they'll never figure out a hard course in 4 runs. biggrin.gif

You go it right. That I blew the braking at the entry to that 1st 180 turn. ....waay to soon...knew when I did it...along with a few less obivious spots. Ah'm workin' on it. laugh.gif

My worst mistake was not shifting into 3rd and guttin' out them kinks in those 2 straights.....pretty sure I coulda made it. w00t.gif

smilie_pokal.gif Good gear selection! The car is pulling well and your driving is smooth. Well done JP. I look forward to meeting you at WCC06.

Today at the PCA AX I did OK. TTOD was Mr Kotizan (former Nat'l champ in SS) at 33.4. was at 34.9...bout as close as I've ever been to him....but it was a short course.I got some work to do. The vids are gonna be late. Had some vid problems....finalized disc in the camera. (insert dumbshit smiley here)

The camera is mounted atop the front hoop of the cage....just above the windshield.....so no chance. I was lucky to get the hood in the shot. Since the camera is about at the center of rotation, any oopsies that show are bigen's. biggrin.gif....or so I figure.

I don't do any left foot braking....my feet don't fit the pedals very well......which is another way of saying my foot work sucks. sad.gif

Thanx, but fast is better laugh.gif

There were 100 strangers in my run group and I'd never ran a course that big.. I think I was too busy worring about embarassing my self in front of them.....IIRC, I got one cone all day. Steve finally reminded me of why I was there. unsure.gif
