Wipers stop in mid sweep. Any way to set starting point or is the motor shot?
It's the linkage, you have to R&R, take apart clean and lube.
The short arm on the motor has to be repositioned.
Remove the wiper arms before doing anything.
Now for the bad news.
Unless you have rubber arms this is a gas tank out and air box out job
I was afraid of that. The current park position is pretty much straight up. From the straight up position the wiper sweeps 90 degrees toward the driver side, then 180 degrees to the passage side. When the switch is turned off the wipers park at straight up.
You mentioned that the short arm can be adjusted. According to the attached diagram there does not appear to be an adjustment unless you are referring to the connection at the motor. Can I remove the motor and reposition the connection to adjust the short arm?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Yes, the motor always parks in the same spot.
Loosen (don't remove) the 10mm nut on that short motor arm, pry arm loose (it's easy) use a wiper arm to rotate the wiper shafts to the side you want the wipers to park on. Your choice. REMOVE THE WIPER ARM
Tighten the nut on the short arm.
Test operate the wipers before re-attaching the arms.
Park on the wrong side ?
Rotate the short arm 180 degrees.
Forget to remove arms ? visit body shop for estimate. Maybe windshield shop too.
Thanks. I appreciate your help.
