QUESTION on the car.............. I am still learning about these 914s, the red back plate between the tail lights is that standard for the 6 cylinder? Any 4 cylinders with the red back plate?

Nope, not standard on any 914. That's a cut down 911 reflector. To mount it, holes need to be drilled in the rear panel. Most folks tend to avoid doing that, but it's the proverbial "it's your car..."

Brcacti, it’s a kit that includes a solenoid to open the rear trunk, as you’ll be covering the locking mechanism... post a wtb, they come up every so often as guys remove them...
