What is the best bolt on exhaust for a stock 1.8L Djet? I am looking at many different models of Bursch but not sure which one.

A stock 1.8 is going to be L-Jet, just FYI.

1.8L ...for a little more power?
Drop the 1.8L and put in a 2L or 2056. I had a 1.7L stock muffler then free flow exhaust; no difference. Dropped the 1.7L and put in a 2056; wow. It's like a different car.

That is the answer I was expecting, did you buy a 2056 or have one built by scat or raby or other?

Bolting on exhaust will not give you magic power. The exhaust is part of a system that needs to be tuned to work together. You can bolt on the highest dollar exhaust bling and not see improvement. It's a system.

That 1.8 will not make your heart race
But it will get ya there .
It cost big money for a more power
Alot more then just the exausht

That is the answer I was expecting, did you buy a 2056 or have one built by scat or raby or other?
I picked up the 2056 from Garold Shaffer for less than $1k including dual weber carbs. Put SSHE on the exhaust with Bursch muffler. I removed the heads and inspected everything and put it back together. It runs good and pulls real hard. Huge difference over the 1.7L/1.8L engines I had in the car.

I replaced my horribly noisy Bursch with a Triad exhaust on the 1.8L. Then I purchased a Scat 2056 long block and did the engine switch. Excellent drivability with the L-Jet FI and sounds GREAT. Also replaced the fuel lines, master cylinder and media blasted the fan housing on the same go.

Did you put a bus throttle body on it? That will really wake it up.

Clay,
Thank you for the recommendation. I will certainly do the upgrade to complement the 2056 and the 42x38 valves. It's already pretty zippy as it is but more is better.
