Can somebody post a picture or two of a stock fender (maybe a 6 ?) car with
185/70 VR 15s ?
TIA

I don't have any pictures, but here's a https://tiresize.com/calculator/ you can play with.
You don't say what your goal is, but if it is for a "stock look", I believe the 6's has 14" wheels.
With 15" wheels, 185/70s are about a half inch shorter than the stock 4 cylinder 165/82s. 195/70s would be the same diameter as the stock 4 cylinder tires.
Keep in mind that the ride height in any pictures you get will influence the "look" greatly.

Don't really have a photo that shows the fit well, but I have run them for many years in my 914. You can slip a finger between the body and the tire.

Perfect ! They all look great.
When handling them they seem so tall compared to modern tires.
Thank you all.

They are, but they're what's "right" for the 914...though I also like the way narrow 914s handle on 205/60, 205/55, 195/60, and 195/65.
XWXs and Vreds look more correct as street tires, and I am sure they are better in wet conditions, but I went CR6ZZ after wanting more performance than the Vreds offered. I went hardest compound but would go softest compound if I had it to do over again (I'll time them out rather than wear them out), but really like them overall.
Curious about the CN36 on a 914, as I hear rave reviews from 911 drivers, but the CN36 can look perfect or a bit too tame or a bit too "truck tire" depending on their size and application. Can't put my finger on why, as I love the CN36's vintage looks.
Ah, and: Nice car, Jeff!!

Rory,
What size tires do you have on your orange car with the Minilites?

205 / 55 VR 15's ancient Dunlops. Extremely timed out
I have new replacements on hand.
I'm asking about the 185's because I own them (timed out too) and need
something to make one of my cars a roller / temporary driver for testing
and alignment. The car is not a restoration but a 'recomission'
Tire choice maybe up to the next owner.
Hey Charlie this pic's for you.
Do you remenber the Red Apple Rest on Rt.17 ?
205/55 15's all around

Got a question; do 70 series tires make for a smoother ride ?

Mine is the green one. '70 -6 with stock 'steelies', 185/70-15's.

Yes...taller sidewall = more flex

In most cases (Vreds, XWX, CN36, XZX, etc), yes.
The Avon CR6ZZ feels like what it is: a road-legal vintage racing tire. They're by no means "rough riding," but they do have a fairly stiff sidewall.
