914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Back Pad Light Differences

Was curious if the German Hella back pad lights without chrome surround were ever OEM on any MY 914s or just a newer replacement for the originals. Picked up this new 3 prong example and wanted to verify.

I believe it is the later. mine had cracked at the electrical connection and the replacement was a later replacement about 10 years ago.

My car has had the one pictured since at least 1986.

I see the $$$ chrome-rimmed lights with the white switch and prefer this one. The lack of chrome and black switch seems more in keeping with the interior design. At least, it does to me.

Could it have been changed in the 13-14 years of the car's life? Sure. Could it be original to the car? I have no idea—but if there is one thing I have learned while studying Porsche, it's that there are always X factors, supplier issues, etc. I'd look to Jeff, Glenn, Brad, or others for a better answer on this…but I'm keeping mine. smile.gif

I agree with pete.
There are others just as legit......the 'x factor'
Back 44 to 50 years ago who was focused on these things ?

Looks like Rory has the variations covered. Same old story, who was providing parts that day, that month or that year.

Exactly. Let's not get too picky here. NOS can be from different revisions.
