Can anyone tell me the size of the numbers stamped in rear trunk.
The numbers on mine are rusted away and I wnat to stma some new ones.

I found that 3/8" (9.5mm) are very close (see pics below). I cut the old floor piece and overlayed it on the new one and then measured to get the stampings in the same location as they were originally.

Just FYI, if you have a /6 the number is in the middle of the floor section. The location on the right is for the /4 cars.

70 six karmann numbers were in the middle of the rear trunk floor, but 71 and 72 sixes were in the right rearAttached Image

So the size of the stamped body number is larger than stamped VIN.

early 1970 914/4 have the number stamped in the center too
at least thru 4702900076
