Getting ready to order a new top-end for my 914 and have a few questions. Based on my engine number and heads this is a 914 2.0, correct? I just do NOT want to order the wrong parts. I am worried the last owner might have used the incorrect parts. Thank you as always for your help.

Not 2.0 914 heads, they would be 3 intake bolts.
What's the number off of? Comes up fan shroud which doesn't help you.
Just noticed the rockers have hydraulic cam spacers, so there's a chance it's a bus engine, but you won't know for sure till you pop the heads off.
I think I found the correct engine number on the block. So is it a 1.8? Thank again for your help.

Pull a lifter out and see if it's hydraulic vs solid.

Adding a few more pics. Trying to solve the problem of what type of engine is this and what piston kit/size do I need to order. Thanks again for your help and advice.

Wow, thank you so much. Any idea how my 914 ended up with a VW bus engine? Looks like the 1.8 bus piston kits are less expensive. Any advice on what piston kit I should order? I would love to get a little more performance. Thanks
Order 96mm flat tops for a 1.8l 914 as you have 66mm rods so you need the ones with the right wrist pin height. Those heads atleast have the bigger valves than the 2.0l bus heads
