914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Step on gas....RPMs drop....

Posted by: CoronaMike May 3 2020, 05:47 PM

Hi y'all.

So, I seem to have an issue that when I step on the gas - for about the first inch or so of depression on the pedal - it drops the RPMs to almost stalling (sometimes it actually does if it's not heated all the way up).

Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure I have a bad decel valve - but I don't know if that is part of it or not.

Similar thing happened to me. I was WAY lean at part throttle.
How is Idle? High? Hunting at all?

Thanks Zach - the idle is under 1k - but when i do get past that drop and rev it up - when it goes back down it does 'bounce' a little before it levels back out. uuup downnn uup doown ...steady...

This doesn't sound like a bad deceleration valve. That valve keeps your RPMs from bottoming out when you take your foot off the gas. I would guess something like bad TPS. Assuming you have stock fuel injection.
