Mirror part is pressed to fit. Base and mounting pieces can be changed.

can the case be split to swap the tilt lever?
if so, how is it done, does the glass have to come out and is it possible to do that without breaking it?

AFAIK if the orbital ball is loose or the day/night lever is broken the mirror is toast.
Do you have a remedy Mark ?

You can pop out he glass carefully to access the nut inside of the mirror housing. A glass shop can make a new mirror. they need some clearance aronud the mirror. I had one made and the glass broke before installed because the mirror fit was too tight. The mirror glass retainer or backing is usually shot causing the mirror to rattle. A gob of silicone rubber behind the mirror will secure it.
