I’m going to trim the herd a bit and am starting to look seriously at which cars to hold on to and which to sell.
I am hoping I could get some eyes on this front end hit. Car drives straight without odd alignment settings and is really solid otherwise. Never to going to be a show car or high end restoration but how much would this put you off as a keeper driver? For a race car?
With the right parts it is a fixer. Get a front clip. Check RD's pieces.
The front panel, without the holes punched out, is factory replacement sheet metal.
The 73-74 cross brace wasn't "needed" on earlier cars so it could be removed.
The floor & under bucket braces would concern me. I'd put it under cheap racer / daily beater, not a restoration candidate unless the rest of the chassis is super nice. Maybe more if I had welding skillz and a free front clip.

The floors and rest of the cars structure is very good, long term CA car with no floor rot, trunk rot, long issues or evidence of impact damage elsewhere.
Maybe target towards being the race car it currently is? (Still street legal and would be easy to have it as a somewhat built road car).
If the floor is straight, the braces (horizontal and vertical) can replaced with the front panel in place. How do the inner front fenders look?

Keep it just as is. Good driver or track, no need to replace. PS I have some of that myself, hit a 4 x 4 post at speed. Front pan is very hard to pound out. Best, Mark
Drives straight with no odd alignment? Nothing on the car is perfect? Keep it and drive it... a repair like that will be 5k+ and will put you off the road for 6 months...
I would probably take that spark plug out of there though
would not be hard to fix if you had the correct front end parts and that was all that was wrong with it. Years ago someone sectioned in a new front panel. Problem was that that was all that was available, the superseded part, so now the car is not correct.
The front panels are not available so you would have to find a used 73-74 panel and the two reinforcements used

Why do the spot welds look drilled out? did someone already try to fix it? I would measure all the gaps on the car and make sure all measurements are within spec. Under 914Info on the top right hand of this page there's a picture gram with measurements.

I feel like this is a good place to add this....
This was the front clip replacement on the white LS6 V8 car that got smacked twice by some trees.
I included all the videos about building a jig, taking measurements, cutting off the bad chassis and grafting in a new one. Loads of work.
