914World.com _ 914World Garage _ The right Bilstein shocks for Boge struts

Posted by: michelko Jun 21 2020, 02:40 PM

Hi guys,
I am thinking of fitting a pair of bilstein schocks to the front struts.
Bilstein lists the number 34 001127 as for 914 and 911.
The documentation also says M12 thread size... but my old struts have M14 thread at the mounting pin. I also have a bunch of old boge shocks that have M14.
What will be the right bilstein number for the 914 914/6 911 struts?
Thanks in advance

I just finished installing these exact Bilstein’s. The model number you mention are the same ones I installed in my all original 73. I was surprised at how easy it was without removing the entire assembly.

Bilsteins come with top nuts for mounting them.

Use a pipe wrench to remove the old top nuts.

Hi, so they came with m14 nuts?

Wouldn't a properly sized adjustable wrench be better, to not mung up the nuts?

Is there a YouTube video for doing this without removing the strut from the car?

This one is with strut off the car:
