Besides the footwell and maybe the doors, where are you guys finding room for speakers?

Many have used the doors. We make pods for the 6-1/2 round ones that can utilize the larger magnet.

Door fitting were done by many and are a better option for sound quality however sad to chop out to make them fit and unless mounted high get the same foot traffic when entering the car as my Pods do.
The pods supply and ok sound but not great.

I love my two 6 inch speakers in the center of my back pad. In addition to the front footwell speakers, one back pad speaker is wired to the left rear channel and the other to the right rear channel. These pad speakers are up nearer my ears and I can balance the four channels at speed with the roof off so it sounds like surround sound inside!

Looks like a good idea. How did you mount them up? Wood and a little foam over them?

It was a long time ago I mounted them, but as I recall, I just used some small machine bolts from the front of the speaker frames through the pad's backer board. I guess you could cut some thin wood veneer circles to go through if your backer board was weak. I didn't use any foam over the back either.....

What I was getting at is the upper speaker position would have quite a bit of foam behind it before the pad in stock configuration. As it looks to be about stock. What did you do there? It looks good.
If I understand correctly, you used a "standoff" to hold the speaker in position just cutting the stock foam?

Hey Mike, as I recall, I just used long enough machine bolts to go through the speaker frame, foam and backing and drew the speaker down into the vinyl.

It looks good but speakers (especially ones this size) need a sealed or ported cavity behind them to work properly... I think! How is the bass response?

I have been using these as desktop monitors at home and they fit really nice and snugly in front of the heater pipes if you remove the speaker pods... and they are real monitor speakers: full sound and proper bass. They're around $60-100 on ebay... They have a groove round them so easy to attach them with some thin wire...

Heco Legato. Come in black or white... They are tapered in the back which enables them to fit so well: square speakers would stick out...

I used Minimus7 speakers for years with good results. Back in the day a 50 watt per channel amp, a good EQ, and the M7's got good sound and stereo imaging in the stock locations.

How big are those speakers @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=22066 ? They look 100% perfect for a 914! GROUP BUY!!!
