914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Looking for L98 pink info I was told they were made in 74

Posted by: Mikey914 Jul 2 2020, 08:42 AM

Looking for any information on the L98 (or whatever code was used) 74 Pink information.
Ideally I'd like to try to locate one to do a color match.

Please if anyone has any info has seen or knows where one may be at. I'd like to match the color.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks guys this is quite helpful.

I'm actually trying to see what is known about the legend of the "pink" cars Porsche did a run of that at least some were shipped to Hawaii.

Any of our Hawaiian brothers know anything?

This may help if you scroll down to the pink category:

Seems pretty comprehensive.

The story I can tell about the Pink 914's is I was out at CampbellNelson VW at their 220th wrecking yard in the late 90's looking for parts and there was a smashed Pink 914 that had been T boned. The parts guys were cleaning out 914 stuff so I bought the tranny out of the Pink 914 as it had only 30k on it plus it was a deal. Parts guy said the Pink car was owned by the original owner a lady who took great care of her baby until she got T boned by a pickup truck. They also said several Pink 914's went to Hawaii as a special promo.

That's all I know confused24.gif

Nice to know where the story originated from. Pretty cool. Was hoping it was some special promotion that maybe had some print adds.
