I was dry fitting my koni yellows into my koni oe struts and found that the gland nut does not thread in all the way. Can anyone post a pic or specifics on the special gland nut used to mount the koni yellows in the oe koni strut housing.
Here's some pics of my stuff.

The "special" gland nut part number is: 73 25 01 011 1 . That is the part that Koni sent me.
want to sell the "incorrect" gland nuts?
I bought a pair of Konis and they did not come with the gland nuts.........
just pay shipping
John Rogers mentions http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=34173&hl=strut that struts vary greatly and that the stud on the bottom end of the Koni can be cut to get the right length.
Did I read that right?
Also, I didn't get 'correct' gland nuts with my yellow Konis.
I don't know if the gland nuts I have are the special gland nuts or the stock one's. When I assembled the shock, the gland nut still has a couple threads sticking out, but does do the job of holding the shock in place. My concern is if the gland nut is supposed to stick out that much out of the housing.
I seem to recall reading something on the bird board about shaving a couple mm off of the bottom stump so the shock sits down further into the strut.

I bought mine on ebay brand new, but shipped from england. Took 3 months to get, but it got here.
I just recieved an email response from Koni about the gland nut.
Here' s the response that they gave:
"2mm is good and normal. That lets you know that the force of the nut
being tightened is due to the insert being held in properly and not that
the threads have bottomed out. This is normal and expected."

Good thing I didn't start grinding down the bottom stump.

The nuts actually do screw all the way down and the top of the nut does bottom out on the housing.
In the pictures with the insert installed, the gland nut is only on finger tight.
