I use swivel feet on all my type 1 motors and the type 4 uses the 10 mm.adjusters. do you guys use them and where do you find them? thanks...

do a search. they are a modify fit. you might have to grind the rockers a tad to keep the geometry correct.

what kind of type 1's?

My engine rebuild books say to shim the rocker assy if needed with swivel feet. No personal experience.

If you have the 1.7 rocker assemblies then the genuine 911 swivel elephant feet adjusters will fit. I had to grind off about 1/8" to make them work.
I wouldn't shim out the rockers too much as it will affect the geometry and I don't think the shims make a very good platform to bolt to.

it's a 2.0, so I guess I have to get them at a porsche shop? I didn't see them in my cataloges, ive got a 57 oval 1776 dcnf's and a 61 15 window bus 1776 44 IDF's they both use 8 mm feet

whats the benefit of 'swivel feet' ?

The "foot" of the adjuster has a larger surface area than the stock OE bolt set up. So there is less wear on the end of your valve when the "foot" and the valve touch. Valves can become pitted and worn and than you can't keep the clearance on that valve and it will get out of adjustment.

The main reason guys go to the swivel feet is because they are using stainless steel valves.
Stainless is softer than the stock valves and the tips will mushroom if you use the stock adjustors. You must use the swivel feet or lashcaps.

Nothing wrong with using quality shims, geometry must be checked.

With hipo springs you should also go to 8mm X 1.25 rocker studs.

The rockers you want are off of a early 1.7 914, 1.7 bus or 1.7 411/412. Also check VW shops.

There is no reason to use the swivel feet on a stock engine.

I've got a question about lash caps.. If you use them, do you need to shim the rockers also?

Thanks
