Halloween Run 2020
Alright, I will map it out over the next few days and post it up.
I’m in.
Sounds good.
Please make it the last weekend in September if possible, I start driving east 9/30 but would love to bring the Cayman on a Julian run before I leave.
Totally in on that and can help plan/lead if you want help. Pretty local to that area.
Julian is definitely a good run and there's a lot of other great roads in the area as well, Mt Palomar, the Montezuma Downgrade into Borrego, Mesa Grande etc.
Palomar and Motezuma is great, I must have been on mesa too but I do not know the name.
78 to/back from Borrego/Julian is awesome too.
The sculptures in Borrego are neat too.
Count me in.
Ok, so I went out yesterday to map out the drive. The drive to Julian is no problem everything is open so were good there. Then I drove up to Palomar, everthing is closed up there. The drive would be good but no stores or bathrooms etc. Then I drove to pala casino everything is open there too. There was one place i passed on the way to Palomar it was called Jose's it was a little bar and restaurant but its only about q5 miles from julian, its at Mesa Grande. Any input...right now I'm saying Ciroba to Temecula to Julian to Pala
I am in, sounds like fun! Good run and not too far for me, just a little farther out than @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=12876
Count me in...
Count us in!
Car may / may not be done, but promise to bring something cool!
What the heck, I am in +1. The car got me to Santa Cruz and back last weekend (~700 miles) so feeling good about reliability at the moment.
Trees are looking good no burnt out areas. :
I ripped the 8 to 79 to 78 back up 78 to 79 to Sunrise Highway this morning. Zero traffic on 78, I might have left some rubber on the turns.
On the way to Julian on 79 I got passed by a sport bike on the double yellows, I called him an idiot and found him a couple miles away smashed into some rocks on the other side of the road after, presumably, not making a right hander.
Idiot. He looked shaken up but not hurt badly. Had 3 cars pulled over to help him. Saw the emergency services heading his way by the time I got to the scenic vista turnout.
It was 95* up there at 9:30am. Cayman staid a typical 175*.

Not sure where my last reply went???
I have an R1 as well as my 914 so that sucks to hear. The Temps should be better in October for us non water boxers. I will send out a map soon.
Hopefully the weather will cool down before the end of the month. I will put up a map by the end of the week.
Hoping not Oct 24 becoz it is my wife and her twin sister bday celebration in Las Vegas that weekend.
Hopefully it cools down by the 24th ... I'm interested in tagging along.
Should be way cooler by then, San Diego normally kicks hard into fall over October...it's 102* outside right now but a week from now it will only be 80*
Been driving around a lot solo lately with the 'lock down'--really can't go wrong in the back roads around here... it will only suck if the Santa Ana's kick up because then we get super warm dry air, pushing your car on back roads generates some high engine temps in those conditions.

We will stop at Toms Farms first, meet at 7am. Leave by 720. Ten to Temecula we will stop at the chevron on the map. We should be there by 8am and again leave by 820. Then to Jullian, it will be about an hour to get there. We will stay for at least 2 hours no set plans on departure time. If anyone is interested after that we will go to Pala or at least drive the 76 and you can keep going to the 15.
In! 315 mile round trip
I've also arranged a Meetup with one of the previous owners of my car who now lives in San Diego that had the car from 2006-2010 up in Portland. A former 914World member @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=5720 will join us in Temecula in his 996. How cool is that?
I'm IN as well, along with mechanic Mark in his wide body.
I will be in my Sunoco six.

Some of us in the San Diego area are planning on meeting at the North County Fair parking lot, and then heading to the Chevron Station in Temecula.
Time: TBD
I’m in just depends on what car will be ready. Hopefully the 914.
I am out, cars in Phoenix.
I’m in!!
Anyone from LA, (north of 10 Fwy and west of the 57 Fwy) want to roll down to Corona together? My starting point is the 134 and the 5 Fwys heading east.
I’m meeting Keith 914toy at the McDonald’s in San Juan Capistrano. We will leave at 6:30. We will then go straight to the chevron station in Temecula via the Ortega (74)
McDonald's address is 31822 Del Obispo St Ave, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
I’m out, got to double down and get ready for WCR. Enjoy
Some OC guys meeting at 1290 N Euclid (Del Taco) just off the 91 fwy
Leaving at 630am SHARP...straight to Tom's Farm meet up.

I just learned that there is a “famous’ pie (fruit) shop in Julian. Sounds like a good brunch option
Local weather decided to skip Fall
Looking like low 70's Saturday and overcast... Expect ~66 in Julian
We're actually supposed to get rain on Sunday so lets hope that holds off, because the cool weather is 914 driving weather for sure!
I think I am going to pass on this drive. I was gone last weekend and need to complete some chores before WCR.
Hoping to meet up with you in Julian!
Wow looks like fun!
its right next to my mother's house in Ramona.
It's our last shoot of the year Big Brother wish I could make it..
Fueled up, ready to go.
I'm in Ramona, so I'm planning on meeting up with the group @ Dudley's Bakery which is in Santa Isabel, right before the turn up to the last leg that gets you to Julian
Dudley's Famous Bakery and Deli, 30218 CA-78, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070
That's at the corner for turn '2' after the ~50mile leg, good place to hit the restroom if needed.
Guessing we'll intercept the pack at 9:15-9:30
I'm going to meet @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=17942 in front of Ramona Cafe on the main street of Ramona at 8:30 if anyone wants to join us to go that route from San Diego
Sounds like we're going to have a good turnout. Let's line MIn street in Jullian 914s
sure it will be a nice drive today. Hope to see lots of pictures later!
Stay safe and enjoy! God bless!
thanks sir Oscar for the pics! drive safe!
Great to see everyone! Santa Isabel before the rest arrived.
I counted 19 914's and one 911 Great turnout!
We all seemed to split up in Julian because there was limited parking and lost track of most everyone.
Looks like a great time for all, sad I missed it but happy I get my car back on Tuesday..
And one last shot on my way back home! Hard to get this picture with all the traffic.
Thanks @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=21763 for organizing. It was a great morning and logged about 340 miles on the day.
Thinking about setting up another one in Malibu closer to the Holidays!
Last photo of the day. @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=21290 in his yellow narrow body.
Until next time....
Cool pic Dawg!!
Great shot! And of course you got to love Jerry.
