Edit******* Bought one from QSC for $223 shipped.


So i realized my 2.7 engine is missing a flywheel. In order to mate it up properly to the 901 id need a 914-6 flywheel or one from an early 911. Looks like the cheapest OE I found was $385. AA has a rebuilt one for $200 with a $100 core.

Also what kind of core is needed? Can I trade in my 914 flywheel?

Edit* - Not sure how I missed this before, but it does say rebuilt/reproduction. Most likely that term is used interchangeably. For this application it is probably solely repro

I'd imagine a rebuilt flywheel has just been resurfaced and checked.

Unless I'm mistaken, a 911 flywheel through '69 should be interchangeable with a 914/6 one.

Yes, interchangeable but importantly a 911 part does not have timing marks
or valve adjustment marks that a 914 6 has.
You'll have no way to set timing or position crank to adjust valves
If you use a 911 be sure to mark it before installing. Or poke a big hole in your seat bulkhead.

I got caught up on this years ago. I sold a brand new '6 flywheel to a nationally respected, PCA tech advisor's shop in TX years ago. I got a call that he said "this flywheel is bad, it's marked wrong". After paying to get a new flywheel and eating shipping, I found out that engine had a 2.4 crank, which indexes differently than a 914-6, it's a bolt up part but the timing marks are off.

I did. I don't think they carry a 215mm 6 bolt flywheel anymore

I won't be as the genuine 914/6 flywheel which is drilled for weight removal and most likely won't have a TDC mark ,the timing mark can easily be marked with a sharp chisel.
Hope you have the 6 mounting bolts as they are crazy money,I found a NOS set on ebay and saved a heap so shop around for these as the prices are all over the place.
