914World.com _ 914World Garage _ How do I replace the filler neck gasket?

Posted by: 914xr75 Sep 3 2020, 07:11 PM

Any tips on how to replace the filler neck gasket? Do I need to drain the tank? Is there an easy way to drain it?. Does anyone know the torque specs for the bolts? Any help would be appreciated.

I did it a couple years ago. I just unbolted the filler neck, cleaned off the mating surfaces and then bolted it back on. I made the nuts snug but didn't crank on them. Tightened them with a star pattern. I also changed the gasket on the filler cap and the sending unit.Doing those, new evap hoses and new fuel lines got rid of the gas smell.

So I don't have to drain the tank?
