914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914 interior fashion

I am contemplating on interior design on an open canvas of a 914 interior. Looking for any ideals. I am wanting to know what the RS inner door handles look like. If anybody wants to chime in and show me what you have I would gladly appreciate it. My color scheme is black, gray, and red.
Thanks
Al

Mine are about done here. Lots of hours but redid the entire door panels with it. Ended up fabricating the door pull mechanism too. Not an easy task. Fiberglass trim pieces to cover up my mechanism, but turned out nice. Have not cut out the window cranks yet.

Door latches were flipped to allow for clearance with the roll cage.

Here's mine. I don't know if the vendor is around anymore. He advertised in Panorama.

I am loving the look gentlemen! One thing the strap. On Costa05's car he fabricated the pull strap. (nicely done BTW). Let me get this right... The pull strap is not plug and play you will have to figure out how to intertwine the door lock and release lever to make it work. Am I correct?

Definitely not plug and play on mine! Someone likely has the perfect easy solution already that I missed for the loop style pull strap... like you, I would love to see their ideas. beerchug.gif

VW Beetle door * pulls , I had covered in black leather. Flipped over door handles...easier to actuate when the side (cage) bars are bolted in; and shorty window cranks to operate with the interior verticle bar.

Any custom door pull will require the Action of pulling on the spring loaded arm in the door mechanism. Check out the way we did a basic door pull on our current build*...the red Rennline key strap to the rescue !

Clever solution! On mine I recreated the mechanics of the stock handle using metal pivot arm and the existing rod. Then had to hide it somehow. It was a bit complicated and time consuming.

Took a little longer than planned as we are down an employee. She got a better job offer so can't fault her there but finally done -

Shown with handles not attaches as we will leave that up to the customer for how and where they want to mount and it should really mount to the metal.

And we can do a double stitch in a diagonal pattern but it would be a special order

Love these. Perfect for my race car when I convert it back to a street legal hot rod. especially since I have no windows or window cranks.

Marty those are the same seat emblems as mine.
And the only others I've seen.
My originals were shot
I had a screen made and then made the buttons.

Nope...I don't mfg / or sell these, but not hard to build;
Just take a couple of these (same as beetle or vanagon) , drill out the small rivet at the round knob. Remove the vinyl cover off of the handle (not reused). Measure where you will need the knob for roll bar clearence then bandsaw the Metal stem and deburr. Center punch the stem, drill a small hole / for a small screw , nut and washer, loctite.
I think that some of the VW knobs had a pop-out plastic disc...makes it easier to set the new hardware in the handle. Otherwise you will need to drill a small hole through the knob to do this.
I painted the assembly with satin black Krylon, and a bit tricky to spin>>but they work !
