I'm in. Hotel reserved. Registration submitted. Minor stuff to do on the car, but nothing that would prevent me from driving there today - mostly cosmetic.

It looks like it's gonna be great fun! How much are the track fees for the auto-cross? laugh.gif

I just registered, now the important question, how much

All of the details are http://www.914world.com/events/rrc2005/rrc2005.php
The registration fee is only $70. That includes all your meals for the 3 days (except lunch on Friday and Sunday). You also get 1 raffle ticket ($10 value) for valuable 914 prizes, awards for the Rise and Shine Car Show, maps so you don't get lost on the tours, and more.

About your only other expense will be the hotel room. Be sure to book yours now. The rooms at The Aarchway Inn are blocked off until August 25th. After that there are no guarantees. Expect the town to sell out for the weekend.

NOTE: If you are paying your registration fees by Paypal - credit cards are not accepted. You either need to transfer the funds from your bank account or send a check to Brant. All of the details are in the link at the top of this thread.

OK John & Brant....

Right now chances are slim to none that I can make it. If I can, is there a possibility to do a last minute registration? I have 2 beer fests, a balloon rally in White Sands, Nico's Birthday, our first anniversary, Porter's in school, and the list goes on and on. September sux!!! barf.gif

I'm making an honest effort, but I probably won't know until the weekend before. Let me know if I can do a last minute thing! (If Joe can't make it, I might be able to talk Nico into letting me run up with Luckie... then again, it's never good to leave the 2 of us unchaperoned!!! grouphug.gif

Liz,

The end of the road deadline is going to be when we give final numbers to the cooks for the food....

probably about 10-14 days before the event.

but I think we can keep you on the maybe list. I think they will be a little flexible with us, and I would be happy to assist with that as late as possible.

we will work it out
how about you and I chat as things get closser.

Posted by: VegasRacer Jul 27 2005, 10:54 AM

Those 13 registrations represent a total of 24 people, including frineds and family, who will be at the Red Rocks Classic. There is still plenty of room for more. Keep those cards and letters comming in.

Posted by: Headrage Jul 27 2005, 11:13 AM

This may have already been asked but I'm too lazy to read the whole thread. It's $70.00 per person so if I bring my wife and daughter it will be $210.00?

Posted by: BMartin914 Jul 27 2005, 11:20 AM

Yes. $70.00 per person. But that includes 2 complete dinners (no alcohol included) and lunch on Saturday. Plus your registration packet. So in all actuality it is a steal.

So please come, and bring the wife and daughter. chowtime.gif

Is there any way to get an idea on how many spouses and kids will be there. I think it would beneficial to all if something could be put together for them. Even something as simple as having all the kids and spouses meet at a certain time just to get to know each other. My daughter is usually cool as long as she has someone to hang out with. The wife is pretty much the same way.

I'm in the same boat as you, wife is on the fence about going... we have a 8 month old, so some outdoor activities will be limited for her. (no long hikes, bike rides ect)

I realize that you may run into problems only having 2 seats, but the scenery is awesome even if you're not in a teener.

I just got a call from the Aarchway Inn. They were checking to confirm that our group was comming. They said only 3 of us have reserved a room so far: ThinAir, BMartin and VegasRacer.

When you call to book your room be sure to tell them you are with The Porsche Club. That is the only way we will get all of our rooms together and you will get the discount rate. If you have reserved a room it would be a good idea to call them back and tell them you are with our Club so you are on the right list.

You MUST call before August 25th to be sure you will get a room.
After that you are on your own.

the entry fee is really all going to food, so if you want to bring a child (12 and under) and buy their child's meal seperate you won't have to pay the entry fee for them

Hold on. Let me check the calendar for recent 914 Club activities.
SMOG Mid West Classic. Route 66 Classic. Nope. Not is California.

How about future events: Mid U.S. Ramble. East Coast Cookout. East Coast Ramble.
Red Rocks Classic. Whistler Weekend. Fall Foliage Classic. Nope. None in California.
Heck, they don't even have the WCC next year.

So. Tell me again. Why do we have the California guys in the club?

**The intent of this post is to conjole you to come to Moab.
Register NOW. Prove me wrong. Have some fun. smile.gif

Posted by: moab914 Aug 29 2005, 09:33 PM

Living in Moab and owning the only on-the-road 914 in town (the other one is fine, but sits sadly on blocks waiting for its owner gets over his 911), I was very interested to learn about the September 914 Red Rock Classic.

Having thought for years what fun a 914 event would be in Moab, it only took me long enough to find the registration page and my VIN to get registered.

So... if anyone needs advice about getting here, activities, who actually does 914 service work it town etc. I offer my services as the one and only "local" participant.

For starters for anyone driving in from the east, never drive into Moab via I-70 and U.S. 191 which are both flat, straight, and dull. Always take UT 128, which once it gets to the Colorado River, is one of the best open car, curvy roads around. Teeners taking the LaSal Mountain Loop tour during the event will get to drive the western part of UT 128 during the weekend, but once is never enough!

For all of those beer questions, we have two Micro-breweries, Eddie McStiffs near the SE corner of Main (aka US 191) and Center and the Moab Brewery located just south of the McDonalds on the west side of US 191. The parking lot at the Moab Brewery is packed on weekends with big SUVs carrying mtn bikes. Try parking along Dogwood street just a bit farther south before the Comfort Suites.

It will likely still be fairly warm at the end of September, but not oppressive like in July. We can still have thunderstorms, so keep the Targa top in the trunk or plan to drive quickly. Last week, coming back from Telluride (another great 914 drive on UT 46), I got pretty wet when I had to slow down through Norwood, Colorado.

For those of you driving through Salt Lake City, Ed Andrews at (801) 532-3697 is Mr 914 for the region. Ed quit the SLC Porsche dealership about 30 years ago to work mostly on 914s. He still works part time in his shop, is a fountain of mechanical knowledge, and has lots of obscure parts in his bone yard.

Looking forward to seeing you in Moab.

Posted by: BMartin914 Aug 29 2005, 11:24 PM

I was so excited to see your post moab914! It will be great to have a local join us!

I just got all of my parts in and am well on my way to having my car buttoned up and ready for the drive. Still have quite a bit of work to do for reassembly, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Just about 23 days and counting...I can't wait! biggrin.gif

I got a little (ok a lot) wrapped up in it last week and had to take some time to breathe.

Fixed one problem, tackle the other and...fingers crossed.

I'm definitely feeling better about it. biggrin.gif

I made my reservation via email a couple of weeks ago and realized yesterday that I never got a response.

I'm pleased to report that, as of this morning, they still have rooms available at the Archway Inn.

I have said earlier that I was planning on bringing my Mountain Bike. I have decided to make packing easier and just bring running stuff instead, so any other trail runners planning on going, give me shout if you want to find a hour or so for a "fun" off road run.

Well... my hopes of driving the "new" 914 to RRC have been dashed. I was considering driving it even with the growling rear wheel bearing, but it does sound like that bearing is on the same side as...

...the swiss cheese suspension console that I found today whilst doing a valve adjustment.

At least this week won't be such a time crunch now. And if it's hot in Moab and you guys are all sweaty... I'll be in air conditioned comfort.

I had a similar brush with things this weekend - brake fluid running out of the master cylinder area onto the ground. It turns out that it was one of the grommets for the reservoir tubes. PP will have parts here by Wednesday so I'll be in good shape.

It's not what you drive that counts, it's that you are there so we can see your smiling face! Of course this will be twice now that I've seen you at a 914 event and you've been driving something besides a 914 - I'm beginning to suspect that it's only a rumor that you own one! laugh.gif

I guess that technically it's really one and enough parts to build one and a half. But that's not much different than half of the 914world.com population.

mine is in jeopardy of not going also. I need some Lugnuts for my Fuchs. The guy changing my rotors told me that the the Ebay specials i bought, are what casued the threads to get stripped. FUCH! mad.gif
i needed to be able to pick up the car from him tonight so that i could drop it off at Pat's tomorrow morning for the valve adjustment. unsure.gif

Greg,

hit up the colorado group.
even if they don't give you or sell you a set, someone will surely let you borrow a set

unfortunately I don't have any for you
but maybe rex?
and I know peter has a set of lug nuts he got from Scott.

so someone can loan you some.
other option would be to borrow non mag wheels and use short lugs with thinner rims?
