Hello Everyone
I'm a recent new owner to a 74 1.8 and just had the rust addressed, re-sprayed and new seals (from 914rubber). Went to pick it up from the shop and there is gapping in the windows, and they won't track in the vertical targa seal. Bodyshop thinks the rubber is too hard and will correct with time, I'm not so sure. Don't think the windows were ever removed from the doors, but the window seals were replaced. 1) Did something happen to the windows and now need to be adjusted for the gapping? 2) When the windows are up, they should slide into the track within the vertical targa seal? Currently when rolled up, the top rear portion of the window sits well outside the seals. Very appreciative for your help and suggestions.

looks like need some adjustment on the window regulator mechanism

Verify the window stop adjustment on the regulator to get the window to raise the extra 1/4” required.

It doesn't appear that the entire window needs to raise; just the rear corner. It also appears to jut out from the vertical seal towards the top as well. If your car has the later (73.5-76) window mechanism you can adjust this. After you remove the door panel you can see the window mechanism and how it is attached to the door. If the plastic roller is worn it can be replaced. On the opposite end of that scissor assembly is a plastic block that is held in place by an 8mm bolt. Be sure that is intact. You can loosen the bolts that hold the mechanism to the door and get some adjustment there to square it up. Check that the upper most part of the "vent" window is flush with the seal towards the top. If not and there is a small gap there then this will throw it out of square and result in the vertical gap towards the rear of the window. Think of a picture frame hanging on a wall that is out of square. To adjust this there are 2 10mm bolts directly below the base of that small triangle window. Look for the two 1/2" round access holes in the door frame. This is where you can insert a 10mm socket to turn the bolts. Loosen those to adjust. The front window guide/tract is part of that frame that holds the small window. Follow it to the bottom and you will find an adjustment screw that controls how closely the top of the window tilts inwards or outwards from the body. Now move back to the rear window guide/tract. There isn't much to adjust there but you can check to see if it is keeping the rear part of the window from sitting flush against the vertical seal towards the top. If loosening the base allows you to bring the top part of the window in then the door is warped from prior damage. There are many posts here with pics showing most of this in detail.
