Some of you already know about this from my build thread, but I thought I'd share a video showing off my custom air intake.

As usual, there are more details on construction etc. in my build thread here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?s=&showtopic=307290&view=findpost&p=2868946
Amazing workmanship!
Well done, Sir!
mate - thats just horn as its said down in aus.
its looks fully kraut. flick off clips. the whole deal.
total homage to the 1.8 dual carb euro set up and looks so right.
(but just the correct amount meaner and nastier than their not so good solex set up).
i think you are still going to get just the right amount of induction noise from the snorkel pointed at your back. not too loud, just pleasantly "informative". even the wimp mobile L jet 1.8s manage to make a goodish/sort of induction noise via the snorkel. yours is going to sound very satisfying.
impeccable/tasteful is all i can say.
Here is a similar setup that is very pricy, but a lot less work

Very Very nice work....
Matt
Now that you've worked out the kinks with your 1st prototype, time to invest in soft tooling and ramp up production.
WOW. I think you underestimate how professional and nice this came out. Very well done. I'd like to hear it once it is running too!
Fantastic job, great creativity, great effort.
Very nicely done! Must do a sound check when engine is installed.
Brent. Really nice. Has a very clean factory look. Maybe in Aussie land they call it horn, but it is what we used to call “trick”.
Fantastic!

"I didn't really think about that. I know I'm weird, but "just the right amount of induction noise" for me is zero. I find this world way too noisy thanks to people already so any dB I can eliminate, the better..... ."
original snorkel intakes i've seen on an NSU RO80 wankel and a Citroen Birotor here are designed to suppress induction noise. the wankels were loud unsilenced - ports instead of intake valves - not that different to a two stroke and potentially as noisy. mazda worried less, but NSU and Citroen were luxury cars meant to be quiet. Its not a resonator box or chamber - but a swollen snorkel that is a muffler, similar to an exhaust. some kind of chamber design - in front of the filter drum.
they are both very quiet from inside the car, though front engines are a little easier to keep noise down than a 914. the NSU is particularly spooky. you can't hear the engine and its electric motor smooth with no vibration. so.....there is no sense of the engine at all, apart from the sensation of acceleration.
