I want to share a little story that I’ve never told before. I consider you guys like family and you know with all that is going on in the world right now, I think the time is right….
People often ask where I get the inspiration for building the World’s Lightest 914. Well my Grandmother gave me this picture of my Great Grandpa, Ury Woodbury and his lightweight racecar and it has stuck with me ever since. Every time I think I can't get it any lighter, I look at this picture and say to myself, “Cut it, drill it, don’t stop now, do it for Grampa Ury….”
Sadly I never met Grampa Ury. As my Grandma tells it, he was doing an autocross one day and a tornado whipped up and sucked him and the car away. Never to be seen again.
This one’s for you Grandpa. I love you, man….

Yes, it's #4 of a little known car that Porsche made from 1910, thru 1916. It's the 014. M |
I especially like those fenders. I can see where Paul got his metal working skills!
Hehe, I always wondered where the "URY" came from. You could lose some unsprung weight with some wheels like that.
If you look close, its a side shifter.
Paul
I lightened my car to the max, of course now it only goes about 8-9 mph...
those are great pictures! Ury's Pa must have been quite a guy to raise two racers!
