914World.com _ 914World Garage _ the good doctor....

Posted by: scottb Jul 21 2005, 04:37 PM

spoke with mike briefly today between phone calls for work and repair of my dead A/C at home. trip was indicated as good save for a couple of trailer issues he may or may not wish to discuss but sound quit manageable. my schedule is shot for the next few weekends but i may try and impose myself on his hospitality this sunday if we can both find the time.

anyone wanna join me if'n we can organize a fun run up to the hershey area and pay a house call on the doctor? i should have a better idea tomorrow of what my sunday holds. sunday is supposed to be sunny, 87F and no rain. sounds good to me!

Posted by: scottb Jul 22 2005, 10:42 AM

ok, just got off the phone with mike and he is game for a gathering on sunday for lunch! chowtime.gif

he is still in transition and we decided it would be easiest for everyone to just meet at a restaurant down the street from his place.

soooooo............

how about meeting at 1pm at:

Dukes Bar & Grill
1715 East Chocolate Ave
Hershey PA 17033
717-533-5541

it is about 110 miles each way for me from poolesville and i will be running through frederick if any western md, wva, va folks want to meet up.

my plan is to leave the house around 10am to give myself plenty of time. is supposed to be a great day weather wise so the driving should be great. driving.gif

Posted by: plas76targa Jul 22 2005, 12:15 PM

Scott,

Sunday is looking good for me. I'll work on a place we can meet - I have an idea of a place North of Frederick. Can't place the name at the moment so I'll look it up. I'll see if I can grag my son along to lessen the load on the home front. otherwise it's only me for now.

Posted by: ArtechnikA Jul 22 2005, 12:19 PM

J is definitely on call Sunday so i'll have a right seat available if anybody wants to carpool from Lansdale / Harleysville... i figure about 1000 out time...

Posted by: Dr Evil Jul 22 2005, 12:49 PM

Clay baby, you know I still love you wub.gif wink.gif I just didn't want to stop by at 1am or later in the morning on Sun. We got out of SD a day later thatn expected and I had to push on through using the 40E. It was a last minute judgement call when I relized that we would not be able to spend any quality time together drunk.gif

Wow! I am suprised at all of the east coast folks. I can't wait. It will be nice to do something fun for a change. Thanks for geting this together for me/us Scott. smilie_pokal.gif

Well.....time to continue looking for EVEYTHING dry.gif

as an aside, in discussion with the good doctor he is finding the liquor laws in PA confusing and his cupboard is currently bare. in order to remedy this situation, i suggest each of us who arrive bring a 6 pack of their favorite beverage to stock his larder until he is more familiar with the local regulations.

hop pocket IPA is on the way..... beer.gif

Wait until he is out for a drive and breaks down in Amish country.

No cell phone reception cause the Amish won't let them put up towers, and they don't have a phone to use. lol2.gif

I love the way you can take a sixpack home from the bar with you!!!

I've spent many moons up there at the Gap, check out Frog's Hollow on 72 between Lickdale and Lebanon. Great Wings and a pitcher of Yuengling!! Brings back some lost memories!

it's not that bad, really.

you buy wine and distilled spirits from the state. it's not completely clear to me why the state wants to encourage you to drink, but maybe it's to help you cope with the income tax and crappy drivers. most but not all State Stores are open on Sunday. you can buy wine at the winery, any day.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY 3 SIX-PACKS OF BEER IN PENNSYLVANIA.

beer is sold by "distributors" in case lots. (but not on Sunday. yet - this is changing soon. actually, it might have gone into effect July 1 and i didn't notice. if not - soon.)

or you can buy UP TO TWO six packs at a bar.
but not three.

SAY GOODBYE to cheap alcohol at the Costco!

Ya ya, after moving....

They have a weather term here, "Partly sunny." So the glass is half full? In Cali it is partly cloudy. huh.gif

and yes teri is coming

there's actually a meteorlogical distinction...

more than 50% cloud cover -- 'partly sunny'
less than 50% cloud cover -- 'partly cloudy'

as for Scott wanting to play with a stocker, my '71E is mostly stock, but the clutch is iffy, so i won't be playing with anybody...

clay i cant blame the dr for not stopping in that state of yours smells like cow shit and oil.

i dont think grass hopper will be making it at least not in a 914, the DAPO butched the body harness when they put in a single carb and it wont work with the fi motor.

so does anybody have a 74 or later wiring harness that is not butchered for little grass hopper

Dr. Evil,

Glad to hear you made it to PA safely.

Hadda ask the wifey what med school was in Hershey so she looks at me funny and says " a damn good one". Being my wifey, a Pennsylvania Dutch redhead, it took several more questions to get the name...

Hershey Med school.

My father in law always told me how hard it is to get into Med school and talked about people going to Europe to get in. He was from Temple Med School and was a small town doc in Pinegrove PA.

Anyway, good luck on your studies.

I expect to see messages about Dr. Evil's Amish Reuholstering Service...... We offer only the finest Amish leather products for your 914, hand stitched by skilled Amish craftsmen.... Free Hex sign of your choice with every order...... Custom buggy whips too!
