From daily drivers and outlaws to garage queens and concours winners, all 914s are welcome at Okteenerfest! Make plans now to join other 914 owners for some fantastic driving, plenty of socializing, a bit of showing off, and a truckload of give-aways. What's that? You say your 914 is on jack stands? No worries. Plan to attend anyway as there is always an empty seat available. You won't be disappointed.
Okteenerfest returns to its roots in the Smokies of east Tennessee and will be held in “action packed” Pigeon Forge. This year's route features the world famous Dragon and its 318 curves in 11 miles. As usual, the day drive includes not only a ton of twisties, sweepers, and ear-popping elevation changes but plenty of stopping points to get out, stretch, and enjoy the scenic splendor of the mountains. The lunch stop this year will be TBD.
In addition to the driving, Okteenerfest features plenty of good eating, an awards ceremony, tons of give-aways from some very generous vendors, a Peoples Choice Car Show, and some of the nicest people you will ever meet gathered in a single place.
If you have not been to an Okteenerfest in the past, mark this one on your calendar. In 2019, over 150 people attended representing 60+ 914s making Okteenerfest the largest 914 gathering in the U.S. in recent history! If recent car events around the area are any indication, this year's Okteenerfest should top those numbers!
The fun begins Thursday afternoon with event check-in. Watch and be amazed as fellow teeners arrive and the parking area fills up with a kaleidoscope of colors. Meet up with friends new and old to catch up on what's been going on the past couple years!
Thursday evening will feature a short “sunset drive” to experience the beauty of the Smokies.
Friday begins early with the “main event” - a drive on the area's fantastic mountain roads. With planned rest and lunch stops along the way, the daylong drive is a 914 lover's utopia.
After the drive, attendees have Friday evening free to do as they wish. Many will gather to eat dinner and then later hang out and socialize. With the event based in Pigeon Forge, there is PLENTY to see and do.
Saturday begins with a People's Choice Car Show followed by a “free” afternoon to go for a drive, shop the many outlet stores, or enjoy some of the many attractions found along the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. A swap meet is being considered if enough interest is shown. During the afternoon, the event promoters will be busy preparing for the evening's Awards Banquet where upwards of $10k worth of “goodies” are given out thanks to our generous sponsors.
Sunday morning will bring the sounds of 914s rambling out of the parking lot as the event ends and attendees head home.
What more could you ask for? Mark your calendars and be sure to join other 914 owners for some fantastic driving, plenty of socializing, a bit of showing off, and a truckload of give-aways in a unique setting that you won’t want to miss.
Your $85 Registration Fee includes:
• Thursday evening “sunset drive” • Goodie bag with some GREAT swag! • Friday Driving Tour on some of the best roads in the country! • Saturday entry to Peoples Choice Car Show & Swap Meet • 914 Tech Quiz entry • Tech Sessions throughout the weekend • Saturday evening awards banquet dinner • Chance to win some great trophies • Tickets for a chance to win some AWESOME door prizes from some great vendors • Event T-Shirt • Lifetime of memories, meeting new friends, and a chance to bond with your 914

This post needs a big sticky to keep it current! :headbanger:For some of you coming through KY from the north, I have several suggestions about alternate scenic routes other than spending significant time on I-75 S. We might also organize a back country road convoy!

The Music Road Resort Hotel appears to be a 1st class facility, lots of areas of interest for us to gather while not driving. The pools are huge and have much dry space for gatherings for swapping lies and consuming adult beverages in the evenings. I'll be making my reservations soon! Reservation made!

I LOVE this. I have plenty of money and a running car. In a couple of weeks I get to do The Route 66 and I drool everytime I hear about The Red Rock Classic. But this event will cross off a bucket list item for me. The Tail. I'll be in a mid engined Porsche just not a 914, I'll be in the GT4. This means I finally get to meet a hole bunch of my old friends. All y'all come by and say Hi.

Bump to remind that registration is now open. When answering how many Okteenerfests I had attended I discovered Steve hadn't allowed a check box for the 2010 event, which may have been the first?

2010 was MUSR in Vonore... my first 914 event. Travelling all the way to Arkansas for MUSR 2011 was the true catalyst for Okteenerfest - I wondered why there was no event in the southeast with all the mountain roads available. A small group drive in 2012 was a sort of litmus test for Okteenerfest which then became an official event in 2013.
Now ya know

Why are there no YELLOW or BLACK emojis

Betty and I will be there. We just finished signing up and have a room reserved.
We are taking the southern route via I-20. It is a little longer (Like 10 minutes), but it avoids the broken bridge on I-40 in Memphis.

Any interest in the swap meet? I've got something going on most of Friday, so I'll miss the drive. If the swap meet will fly, I'll be in a Ford F150 that identifies as a 914, maybe a trailer load? Not sure if I'll still have the tail dragger Targa then.

Registration will be closing on Aug 22 so I can get numbers to the venue on the 23rd.
Hope you and your wife can make it!

You never know what might show up at a swap meet.
I plan on gathering up some of my extra 914 bits and see if they can find a good home.

I can't fit my whole garage full of spare parts into the back of the SUV, and be able to get luggage in it too.

To add to what trojanhorsepower said...
Thursday is arrival and check in starting mid afternoon or so. For those who arrive in time, a quick sunset drive ~7:00 or so (have to check sunset times) is planned.
Friday's drive, Saturday's car show and evening banquet are the key activities along with swap meet and tech sessions (times to be determined).
Sunday has no planned activities.

Just finished updating my Garmin so I can cruise back country roads going to Okteenerfest again. I don't like spending any more time on Interstates than necessary, running beside semi's really brings home how tiny our teeners really are! When Dad first bought the new teener, Mom hated riding in it, said when she looked out the window all she could see were lug nuts flying by!

Hey All -
I've sent a few of you PM's and thought it was smarter to just put up a group note!
I'm new to the 914 world and still looking for a car. Do you know if attendees typically have cars for sale? I might come down just for the show if there's a chance I could find my new dream 914.
I'm ideally looking for a '72 -'75 2.0 but a 1.7/1.8 would be cool too. Doesn't need to be a beauty queen. But rust-free and generally mechanically sound. Thanks for the feedback.

OKTEENERFEST 2021 Sept 23-26 in Pigeon Forge TN

Left VA this AM, arrived in Mountain City TN. Car shut off once then no spark. Points slide out of adjustment. Fixed on the off ramp, the wife wasn’t too worried. Rained most of the way, weather is cooler and ready for arrival tomorrow.

The car show will be held on a paved lot below/behind the Convention Center.
The Little Pigeon River runs along one side and there is a parklike setting on two sides of the lot. Should be nice.

When I arrived at my friend’s house in Gastonia for the night he offered me a garage spot and pulled out cardboard and put it under my car. Should I be offended or impressed?

I got all the "stuff" finished up for Okteenerfest... awards plaques, goodies, printed material, packets stuffed, etc. I think it might all fit in the 914
BTW, I sent out an email this morning with a link to the itinerary. If you didn't see it, maybe check spam folder. If still no show... don't worry about it. There will be a printed version in your packet.
See you soon!

1st year I went I got pulled over at almost the same spot. the police set up and catch you just as you are coming out of the Dragon. I was lucky and it was the local police and not the state boys so the fine surprisingly wasn't bad, in fact I was shocked at how low it was.

Looks like all had a great time. Fantastic annual event.
Driving events like this really show what fun little road warriors these old car can be when in good operating condition. I have a 5 hr. drive each way on side roads back and forth to Okteenerfest, and have made it my annual road trip in my teener. I'm not inclined to spend any more time than necessary on Interstates, driving the twisties is a big part of the entertainment value of owning these cars.
