914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What Color Do you suggest

okay I'm going to repaint my 914 and I was wondering what would be a nice clean color for it. I like black on it but then once again its going to be a pain to keep clean but maybe not. I also like red but I heard the cops look out for that color. well what do you suggest for me to paint it. the original color of the car now is yellow but is pretty much fading away. Also I'm looking for a good paint shop around pasadena,ca or pretty much in that area if there is any. well please let me know thanks Luke

Go for the original Sunflower Yellow if that what it is otherwise there is no question: Signal Orange!!

I have to agree, Yellow cars are faster. Tangerine is a really nice looking color also.

naaa, well, at least not up here ...

last time i got pulled over in the car was when the wife told me to drive faster (middle of nowhere, sonoma) and of course there's a cop with a radar gun right there ...

other than that, they leave me alone ...

Oh yeah, Arena Red is very nice. The first Boxster I ever drove was Arena Red.

thank you so much for all of your replies I would have to say so far I like the arena red that looks bad ass but I'm gonna give it so thought. I was wondering still where to get a good paint job at that is fairly good priced with some good paint. once again thanks

I totally agree with you. Black is beautiful. Yes , high maintainance, but my old Maserati had it and I didn't give a *uck. It just looked awesome..

The other color I really like is

I like the Kenei.. the Kenise.. the.. I like the superdark blue that looks like, with the super 'pull me officer i'm racing' red wheels.

ever see a black over yellow that wasn't stripped to bare metal. in 2 years it will be "hey!! your car used to be yellow!".

W hat is the paint code or name of your original yellow?

Sunflower/summer yellow, I say go back to the original.

I don't much care for the other yellows, so go with anything after that, but I agree with Kevin. Don't go cheap on the re-paint or that yellow will be peeking back out at you. Eeeeewwwwwwww.

See I've been pondering this exact question. The Ratt is going in for paint in December so I've been looking at lots of colors. I asked my daughters for a little help and so far we've come up with (in no particualr order):

My choices:
Black
Cobalt Blue

The Kids choices:
Crayola Medium Blue (as demonstrated by the 5 year old "..Like this crayon dad")
Flamingo Pink (as pointed out by the 7 year old in a garden shop "..that would look so cool")

The wifes choice:
"Just sell the damn thing."

So, obviously, if we want the coolness factor we go for Flamingo Pink. If we want Kid Classic we go with Crayola Medium Blue. If we want to make the wife happy we sell the teener. If we want to stay happy we buy a 3.2L, powder coat everything we can take off the car, and find those perfect original Fuchs.

There you have it

I am having the same debate. My car is Saturn Yellow, debating between...

Saturn Yellow
Bahia Red (color of my dad's 914 when I was younger)
Tangerine (color of the parts car that supplied doors, hood, trunk so it is half way there...)
A metallic blue
