Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:26 PM

went up to hershey today with matt and his son (plas76targa) dan and his wife (wilchek) scott and his betrothed along with rich (artechnika) to pay the good doctor a visit.

perfect day for a drive, not too hot, partly cloudy. just right.

and without further delay....

the first pic is of matts 72 just north of frederick.

meeting was at dukes, when what should pull into the parking lot but a nice bmw 1100...

"hey look, 914's. bet this is them."

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:30 PM

kids even had a good time though the walkies talkies crapped out so they couldn't play star trek or whatever 9 year old kids play.....

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:33 PM

after lunch we all went outside and said really intelligent things like...

"i see you drive a 914. like it?"

nah, i was able to show off my evil seats and we all spoke of the long term mental damage associated with 914 ownership. the general consensus was none of us have a problem.

gratuitous picture of my car....

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:36 PM

after tanning our bald spots, we went over to the doctors to see....

yep, a 914!

very nicely painted 916 look with a 2.7.

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:40 PM

the patient however needs a nose job. a little like jack nicholson in chinatown but apparently nothing the doctor can't handle....

it still made some of us weaker ones a bit nauseated....

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:42 PM

peeking under the hospital gown....

nice 6 jammed in there.....

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:44 PM

"now i know these are supposed to hook up to something..... i was just gonna grab some extra lamp cord and some jumper cables and start touching connectors until something happens...."

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:45 PM

very nice painted bezels and white needles on the guages......

Posted by: scottb Jul 24 2005, 04:47 PM

and lastly....

yes the 5 foot skateboard exists.....

it was a great time. i look forward to my next appointment.

dry.gif Yeah that board may be great in a straight line but in the spirit of the sports car,I prefer to hug the curves biggrin.gif Wish I could have made it but that's a hell of a day trip from Ric, with no teener, and no A.c in the 924 sad.gif

230 miles round trip for me...... that's a long day in the teener.

i need to take a pic of my old skateboard. 32" long 12" wide laminate with honecomb center support by kryptonics... forget the type of wheels but had sealed bearings with machined hubs. very fast.....

oh crap, hijacked my own thread again....

This is Noel Evil --> Thank you very much for lunch today Scott. That was very kind of you. chowtime.gif

And to Dan - please tell Julie that I appreciate her thinking of me about the job situation. Too bad you guys are a little far away. But, Mike and I would like to come visit out your way to see some of the Amish bridges that Julie was talking about.

Thanks to all for coming and seeing us. You have made us feel very welcomed to the east coast. smile.gif

Dr. Evil-->
Thanks again for lunch and for the company. It is nice to see that we are, again, not too far from nice 914 people. Oh, and you too Rich (911)wink.gif
I will be sampling the beer offering this evening and will report the results as they occur givemebeer.gif beer.gif beerchug.gif beer3.gif I will be working dilligently to get my car to move under its own power this week headbang.gif I love pain biggrin.gif

I'm looking at all the "East Coast" folks in this pic and wondering how many of them lived in CA? I know the percentage will be quite astounding... cool.gif

Posted by: plas76targa Jul 24 2005, 07:02 PM

Sean, "lived in California" .. yep! Did ya see the CA plates still on my orange 914? I'm slowly eating into the 60 days the state of MD allows me!

Dr Evil, Noel, Scott(s) and all, we had a great time with you all today. Even the weather was gorgeous for a drive. Makes me think of a favorite line in Shrek, [donkey]: "Let's to that again!"

... not too far from nice 914 people. Oh, and you too Rich (911)

I AM A 914 PERSON, DAMMIT !

if you want to see my /6, lemme know and we'll schedule a trip to the storage unit where it's been stashed since its arrival in PA 2 yrs ago. the 911 runs and gets me to work. it's carrying a LOT of parts retrofitted back from the 914, and there will be more as its Webers are pressed into (temporary) service breathing for the 2,7 that's soon to go in (after i get a line on a 915...)

meanwhile, it ran great today, oil temp around 190F, didn't skip a beat.

there are lots of good local beers. they were brewing good beer in PA around the time Fr Junipero Serra was making eyes at the first indigineous altar boy. and there are a few good local wineries but you'll need the special guided tour because we're not letting the secret out...

i lived in San Diego 20 years, Lost Angeles another 8. CA is a good place to be from.

this pic is the state of the dining room upon my arrival; amazingly, i was not the last to arrive for this gathering.
