Each year the small town I live in has their festival to honor our hometown boy made good, WWII Correspondent Ernie Pyle. As a parft of the festival, they have had a car show that was primarily the local/regional Street Rod guys, with a few antiqes thrown in for good measure. This year, the festival falls on the same weekend as the Nationals in Louisvill, just 3 hours away. Guess where all the SR guys are going!
So today (nothing like a lot of lead time, but I guess they figure if I can put together a sermon is 6 days, I can do wonders with 2 weeks) the committee chair caught me outside the post office (yeah, it is kinda like Mayberry) and asked if I thought the Porsche guys would be interested in comeing to town. I guess because I have a torn apart 914 in the garage I am supposed to know all the Porsche owners in the US!
So here's the question, anybody interested? We are right on the Illinois/Indiana line, along US36, about 2 1/2 hours form Indy and Chicago, 3 from St. Louis. We have a buch of windy roads, Parke county (the covered bridge capital) is next door, and Indy isnt a bad drive.
What I was thinking was maybe a show-n-shine, a cookout/ice cream dealie in the park, and a Saturday afternoon drive?
TRhere's the idea, open for others, let's see if it flies.
Respond ASAP to let me know if I should go ahead with this...

Sounds like a good time David, but I've got too much on my plate trying to get my '74 ready for the FFC in Oct. There's a lot of Indy guys on the board, I'm sure they'll chime in.
Well
I am going to Midwest classic near Detroit the 5th and plan to go to FFC later in fall.
what dates are we looking at?
Two weeks? You refer to Aug 13-14?
I might be game if I can develope a reliability factor into my car. It is constantly trying not to run for me.
Sorry, yes the dates of the festival are August 11-13. It would be really informal, but woould be a chance to put faces and cars with names.

Is there a particular portion of that weekend set aside for a picnic, ice cream, and oil drips?
IMHO, you haven't allowed enough time. Also too many events in one geographic area fragments the "group". Why don't you attend the Fall Foliage Classic in Oct??
I agree the timing is short. I think I'll tell them I'll take a pass this year, but if any of you want to come to the festival, I know you would have a great time, and I'll throw a couple of extra slabs of what ever on the grill, fire up the White Mountain freezer, show you my pile of stuff in the garage, and take you out for a sight-seeing drive.
Just give me a heads up, PM for directions, or whatever.
And yes, I do intend to be at the FFC, even if it's in the Catera this year.
