Ok, so ~ 10 days ago I installed temp sender....
Taco plate leaked like crazy. So tonight I drained oil and pulled it back apart.
choices:
1) re-install with new gasket and more sealer
2) put old cover back on and install the temp sender I got that replaces drain plug.
Issue taco plate sender says 200 deg and drain plug says 150 deg.
So what do I do? I could swap temp for oil presure too....
What would you do?

and don't forget to get 2 new copper crush washers for the 10mm bolts.
they're one time use only!
Andy
I have new washers and a gasket for between the plates.
Why even put outer plate on? Bet it would seal easy without it...
Thoughts on that?
When I did mine I really couldn't figure that out as well. Seems like it does'nt really seal anything. I put it in anyway just because.
But, I have no leaks from the taco plate.
Are you using a paper gasket or an o-ring for the plate?
Ok
Did it proper...
yes O'ring, then plate, then sealer, then gasket, then sealer, then top plate (or bottom I guess)
Re-filled oil, we'll see tomorrow
Where is our crossed fingers smilie?
I just went through the same thing.
Did pretty much what you did, but I had a to make my own gasket to go between the plates. I used lots of sealant, and replaced the crush washers with larger fiber washers. I ran the car for a few minutes and it seemed to be leak free. The real test will be the drive to work tomorrow :crosses fingers smiley:.

Still leaks
I cleaned my drip pan and will see how bad it is.
next I'll try without outer plate
Well
Oil sure is clean when you change it every week
Re Re Re sealed the temp sender plate, this time no outer cover.
I'll find out soon enough - This is it before (or better to say till after) MWC
