I need your help on this. Lately there has been a tendency to attach pictures to signatures that are NOT SAFE FOR WORK. We need to clean up the signature pictures. We have members (I am included here) who turn off the avatars at work due to the NSFW pictures that are used there. Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the pictures in the signatures.

If we keep putting NSFW pictures in signatures, we are going to force a bunch of our members to stop coming here.


So... if you REALLY want to get rid of me..... add more pictures to your sigs....

plus they slow things way down for those on dial up, as do threads with multiple animated avatars.

Anyway we're getting off topic.

Some of the pics aren't safe for home use too.

Other sites I visit have so many pictures attached to their sigs that you can't see the forest for the trees. I don't like them.

except, like in my office, it's OK to surf the web for personal purposes ...

we've been through this many times, if you feel like you need to look at boobs and butts, you're on the wrong web-site.

Some companies block all game and gambling sites in addition to porno sites. In other words, all the fun sites. I think this one will be blocked soon.

I can't even get to yahoo fantansy sports stats from work. ALL types of games are blocked and a very much NOT discrete sign pops up and says BLOCKED!!! which looks worse than any site that would be blocked...

also, ebay and office depot/office max is blocked

Hell, They should have a siren set up in the office that alerts EVERYONE when someone is wasting the boss' money on the net!

Here only ONE computer (out of 14) can get to anything other than our vendors websites, or our own!

I even blocked Instant messenger!

You could do like my old man did when I pissed him off as a kid- Threw the TV outside in the yard!

The other thing that pisses me off at work is a damn cell phone! One time I had a guy helping us build shrouds and I had told him all aboput my hate for cell phones on the job..... So one day I'm balancing an engine behind this guy- his phone rings and he answers it...... This after being warned 4 times prior to this....

I walk up behind him and observe him drilling a hole into the shroud, while on the phone and not wearing safety glasses.. .. He notices me standing there and keeps talking. When he finally hangs up I asked him if that phone call was a matter of life or death and he replied "No, my girlfriend wanted to know what we were doing this weekend"...... I smiled and told him to grab his tools, leave and go see his girlfriend- forever.....

Then he says- "I thought you needed help here" I replied yep, I do not a slacker that can't follow directions or follow rules implemented for his own safety"... I finished his job my damn self!

Laid off two weeks ago and it sucks, severance will come in handy for the next couple months. I'd rather have a job where I can work hard and people will acknowledge my efforts rather than do nothing and get a paycheck.

Some places let you surf on your lunch hour, breaks or whatever. As long as it doesn't interfere with your regular work. That is a decent perk at some places.

Lets not be practice what we preach, because I see you here posting too. Doesn't matter if you are the boss or not, that's ethics - do as I do, not do as I say, not as I do.

Actually- Not really....

I work at night, and basically play all day... My work day is basically inverted from most people's.....

I get 8 hours of work done a day and still have time here and there... our work is very cyclical, sometimes I cannot sign on for weeks, other times I have nothing else...

often I pop on when my work is compiling, by the time I read the new stuff, and post 1-2 times... I'm ready to test my build.

Kinda funny story, my work blocked IM's for about a week. Productivity dropped to a all new low.

1, people like me where I have to talk to people in other countries, or other states was suddenly spending all day on the phone waiting to talk to someone, where a 2 second IM did it before.

2 People are going to talk to the kids, best have them blow a second every now and then with a IM, then leave to the break room, to have a 5 minute phone call.

Engine building is way different than wierd crap I call a job.

A couple years ago I was working with a guy who would leave the house at 7:45 am, get to work at 8:00. We'd start setting up and the boss would come in and give us the plan for the day. This about 8:04. He'd look at "Craig" and say something like "I want you to frame out the...."
Craig's phone would ring, it would be his wife telling him how their daughter had stacked her first block or tried apple sauce and gotten it in her ear or something else unbelievably lame. We'd be standing there, blown away, totally speachless.
The boss would say to call her back at "break" and Craig would spend the rest of the day complaining about what an asshole our boss was.
He didn't last very long.
