Hi All.
I'm reinstalling the Oil Pressure Switch that is located on top of the engine next to Cylinder #4.
Does it require a washer?
Any specific torque setting?
Any sealant?
It's been a couple years since I've been able to do any serious work on the reassembly of my motor and I've forgotten a lot.
Plus, the research I've done doesn't clear up the mystery for me.
Thanks.
I only use a copper washer. No sealant.
It's a tapered pipe thread; the tapered threads seal it. No washer, as that is not a sealing surface.
Some use Teflon tape to help seal the threads (shouldn't be needed) but check the electrical grounding (shouldn't be a problem).
If you can screw the switch fully down to the case and it still doesn't seal, you have a different problem, maybe buggered threads in the case or switch.
From Sweden to Ct.! Gotta love it.
Thanks Guys.
Check your switch. If it doesn't have tapered threads you were sold the wrong switch. The water cooled engines us a switch with a copper gasket. The threads are longer too.
