914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Headlight casing

Posted by: Maine914 Aug 1 2005, 06:36 PM

A headlight went out. When I removed the plastic casing around to replace it, I noticed how beat it was. The black paint was flaking off. I've brushed/washed off the paint that easily comes off. Does anyone have any pointers about re-blacking it? Should I try to get all or the old paint off [if so, how]? Or, just paint over it with a few coats [or should I use a primer]? And what paint do your recommend? [I don't think the left-over POR-15 I have is the right stuff.]
Thanks.

You mean the plastic covers, I assume.. clean them 'lightly' with #000 steel wool... degrease, then use something like a Krylon plastic primer, and their paint.
